WOW and DOUBLE WOW!!!!: WALTER REED WEEK 168, OLNEY WEEK 130, July 4,2008 Weekend – Picture Heavy

Posted on 07/08/2008 3:10:24 PM PDT by trooprally

WOW and DOUBLE WOW is the only way I can describe the Patriotic Americans that attended the Walter Reed and Olney FReeps. It’s Saturday afternoon as I started this combined AAR and my heart still pounds with pride over all those who came out, especially to Walter Reed on the evening of the Fourth.

Since I’m honored this week to write the Walter Reed AAR and usually write the Olney AAR, I had to combine the two because of their similarities. Several weeks ago a question as to who will be at Walter Reed came up. About 4 or 5 said they would be. By Tuesday this week, we had 8 definites. Not a big showing but it was enough to plan the Freep and keep the moonbats away from the main gate. As of this past Tuesday, there were only two definites for Olney.

Come Friday night, we had 27 Patriotic Americans at Walter Reed, plus a new born. At Walter Reed there were 8 moonbats who finally got a good washing during a passing rain storm. But the time Olney came to a close, we had 16 Patriotic Americans, occupied two corners and were unopposed by the moonbats. We figured that they thought about their anti-Troop, un-American protest over the 4th of July weekend and decided it would be better not to come out. VAFlagWaver suggested a picnic of some sort for Walter Reed. BBQ ribs from Red Hot & Blue was decided upon. After the Olney FReep, a dozen of us went to Dave’s American Bistro.

At Walter Reed we occupy all four corners at the main gate. At Olney we occupied two corners. If it was known that so many Patriots were going to show up, we would have occupied 3 corners. We would have stayed off the moonbats’ corner less we be mistaken for them.

Walter Reed had a 20 minute hard rain just short of a thunder storm and as you can see from pics of Olney, the sky threatened to open up at any time. We did get a few sprinkles at Olney.

The 27 Walter Reed Patriots included FReepers: 3DJoy, Cindy_True_Supporter, Doctor Raoul, JoysKid, Kburi, Lurker Ethel, Lurker TweetiePie, Plea Deal, VAFlagWaver, VictoryNY, USNRetired, aka Chief, Mrs Trooprally, aka [Mrs] T, Satin Patriot, Tolerance Sucks Rocks and myself, aka [Mr] T.

Families coming out were *3DJoy’s 2 daughters (includes FReeper JoysKid), a son-in-law, a grandson and a granddaughter*; *Innis with his wife & new born, 2 daughters and a son, and his brother*; *Bruce & Chris and their daughter and grandson*.

The 16 Olney Patriots included Legionnaires Glenn (WWII - USMC), Halsey (Korea - USMC), Frank (Korea - Army) Anomoly99, Eager, GunsAreOK, Kburi, Lurker Ethel, PrezUSA222 with his mother and brother, RockerMom2MyHero and her hero son, VAFlagWaver, Mrs Trooprally, aka [Mrs] T, and myself, aka [Mr] T.

And moonbats were a NO SHOW in Olney.

And all us Patriots had good times wherever we Freeped.

Pictures at Walter Reed were taken by Plea Deal (Indicated by PD), VAFlagWaver (Indicated by VAF) and [Mrs] T (Indicated by (MrsT)

Pictures for Olney were taken by VAFlagWaver and [Mrs] T.

While there were a lot of pics that needed reviewing and picking from, the different views from each enhances this AAR.

Besides all the Patriots at Walter Reed, several highlights were the police cruiser who over their loud speaker, wished us a Happy 4th of July and Thanked Us for being out there, and Kburi setting off some fireworks for all the kids, and finally all the fireworks that we saw from the corner and on the way home.

BELOW LEFT:Doctor Raoul’s sign says it all. Kburi with Doc before the rains on the southwest corner. (PD) BELOW RIGHT: A second sign on the northwest corner just to be sure our troops and everyone passing sees this Friday’s Message. FYI, that’s Me with 3DJoy as the rain came down. Unfortunately neither sign made it thru the rain without the ink running so we couldn’t use them at Olney. (PD)

BELOW TOP: The Westminster FReepers, Anomoly99, Chris - RockerMom’s hero and RockerMom2MyHero, made it down to Olney this Saturday. Note difference in colors on the sidewalk. That is the slight drizzle we had before they arrived at Olney. (MrsT) BELOW BOTTOM: FReepers and Lurkers at Olney.(MrsT)

BELOW: Olney Freepers and Lurkers at Dave’s American Bistro for lunch after our FReep. (MrsT)

BELOW LEFT: Walter Reed Canteen with Cindy_True_Supporter and VictoryNY on northeast corner, and way over on the southwest corner is Doctor Raoul and Tolerance Sucks Rocks. (VAF) BELOW RIGHT: VAFlagWaver taking her pics of the Walter Reed Canteen with some of 3DJoy’s family around table. (PD)

BELOW LEFT: Wounded Warrior and family stops at the northeast corner on their way into WR. (VAF) BELOW RIGHT: Wounded Warrior finally gets ‘free’ from well wishing FReepers, trying to get into WR without getting any wetter. (PD)

BELOW LEFT: Plea Deal’s “TweetiePie” and VAFlagWaver setting flags out. (PD) BELOW RIGHT: Plea Deal and VictoryNY inspiring 3DJoy’s grandson. (VAF)

BELOW LEFT: 3DJoy’s family, 3D in white @ far right, JoysKid under brown umbrella, Cindy_True_Supporter under clear umbrella, and USNRetired, aka Chief, is holding flag behind 3D. (VAF) BELOW RIGHT: Bruce’s wife Chris, their daughter and grandson. Grandson just got the news that his stocks he traded on E*trade just crashed. (VAF)

BELOW LEFT: Innis from Maryland with his two daughters. (PD) BELOW RIGHT: Young Patriots even in the rain. (PD)

BELOW LEFT: Opps!! This driver didn’t know that D.C. law forbids driving while talking on their cell phone, especially on wet roads. (PD) BELOW RIGHT: Did I already mention a table full of ribs, VAFlagWaver's famous RUM CAKE and a cherry pie, a fruit basket, cucumbers & vinegar, cookies, cold drinks and a lot of very friendly FReepers? (PD)

BELOW TOP: Kburi lighting his fireworks (MrsT) BOTTOM LEFT & RIGHT: The fireworks (MrsT)

BELOW: Fireworks in the alley behind us and Takoma Park’s as seen over the houses and trees. (MrsT)

AND THEN THERE WAS MORE AT OLNEY

BELOW LEFT: [Mrs] T and PrezUSA222, out for another Saturday. (VAF) BELOW RIGHT: PrezUSA222, GunsAreOK, with VAFlagWaver talking to PrezUSA222 in back ground. (MrsT)

BELOW LEFT: PrezUSA222's Mom, GunsAreOK, VAFlagWaver and Prez’s brother. (MrsT) BELOW RIGHT: Eager and me on southeast corner after our corner got too crowded. (VAF)

BELOW LEFT: RockerMom2MyHero, Kburi and Lurker Ethel. (MrsT) BELOW RIGHT: Legionnaires Glenn and Frank. (MrsT)

And we had moonbats at Walter Reed.

BELOW TOP: Moonbats at WR getting duly washed once a year, whether they need it or not. BELOW BOTTOM: Empty moonbat corner at Olney. (VAF)

The Patriots that came out to support our troops were great. I still can’t get over the response that we had on Friday and Saturday.

Has it started to warm up yet in your neck of the woods?

I’m sure glad you added the “LOL”.

Jeez, 5 different photo files to look at. I’m going to have to have [Mrs] T merge them IF I do this again. I think Christmas ‘09 and New Years Eve ‘09 fall on a Friday.

Thanks for all your great pics, AND the rum cake.
