Jesse Ventura To Run for Senate
abc ^ | July 09, 2008

Posted on 07/09/2008 7:50:10 AM PDT by george76

In an interview with NPR's David Welna that ran today former Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Ind-Minn., says he will run for Senate, challenging incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., whom Ventura defeated for governor in 1998, as well as Democratic nominee and former Saturday Night Live humorist Al Franken.

Ventura, born Jim Janos...

Ventura had a stormy tenure as governor and horrible relations with the Minnesota press corps. Thus, it was the June issue of a local wine magazine where he chose to drop hints about his pending campaign.

Ventura called Franken an opportunist and a carpetbagger. "He hasn't lived here in 30 years, and he's only coming back to Minnesota for the convenience of his own political agenda. Why didn't he run in the states he was living in? Clearly, for being a Harvard graduate, he's not too smart on taxes, is he?

Everybody laughs, saying I came from wrestling. But at least I knew when I wrestled in 40 states, I had to pay taxes in those 40 states. You just have to do the paperwork. I find it unbelievable that someone who could go to Harvard didn't know that or let it slip.

Blaming his accountant is worse, because now he's turning into a politician. He's not accepting responsibility for his actions."

Useful idiot. I say let him run. He’ll only be peeling off 9/11 “truthers” from Franken’s growingly disaffected base.

Ventura, born Jim Janos, tells Welna that the main reason he's running is because of Coleman's support for the war in Iraq. "That's the reason I run," he says. "I run because it angers me...All you Minnesotans take a good hard look at all three of us. And you decide: if you were in a dark alley which one of the three of us would you want with you?

A dark alley? And this has what to do with the Congressional authorization to use force in Iraq? Well, yes, Jessie I'll take you in a dark alley because there at least brains aren't that important.

Hey Jesse, what do you exect from a textbook liberal? Responsibility, honesty, ethics, or morals are foreign to radical liberals.

This guy jumped the shark years ago. When he was on Larry King recently I was trying to figure out what the black stringy mess was hanging out the back of his head. Then I saw it was his hair. He looked like the latest Bond villain or a pirate without the handkerchief on his head.

"Ventura called Franken an opportunist and a carpetbagger."

Coming from a guy who lives in Mexico 9 months out of the year I find this funny.

He will guarantee Norm Colman a sure win. I welcome this. The flower has withered and died for Ventura. Norm will continue to look like the gentleman he is while Ventura and Franken divide up the chaff among themselves.

Jesse, promise to use the piledriver on Harry Reid on the Senate floor and the votes will be there.

I hope he wins.

Both parties are dangerous and wreckless.

Gridlock in DC is the best we can hope for and Ventura would bring plenty of potential gridlock.

I don’t. I was duped into voting for him for gov and he was an embarrassment. Besides, we’ve already got Keith Ellison in congress, so I think my state has suffered enough humiliation of late.

He claims to have been a Navy SEAL, but this has been disputed.

This is great. Jesse and Al will split the idiot vote. Ventura’s 15 minutes of political fame were up about 3 months into his term a Governor. The man is a shallow, cliche spouting machine with a huge chip on his shoulder that doesn’t play well at all anymore.

Jesse was a member of the Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) during the Vietnam era (he served in Country as they say). The UDT’s got folded into the SEAL’s.
