Six men remain in the Scott County jail following what police call a brutal assault on a father trying to protect his daughter.
Shakopee police say as the crowd was leaving Valleyfair Amusement Park around midnight on the 4th of July, the victim's daughter was confronted by two men.
"The 12-year-old daughter was either touched or slapped in the buttocks area," Scott County Attorney Patrick Ciliberto said. "The father confronted (the men) by yelling at them for what they had done to his daughter," he added.
Police say the two men called their friends, who were also in the park. The group of seven men and a juvenile then confronted the father.
"They beat him to the ground and then, the evidence that we have, when he was on the ground, they used their feet on him. They were kicking him in the face when he was down," Ciliberto said.
According to the criminal complaints, the men were stomping on the 41-year-old father as he lay on the ground, unconscious.
He suffered severe head injuries, including a fractured right orbital bone and possible subdural bleeding on the brain. "We don't know if there are permanent injuries yet," the County Attorney said.
Shakopee Police found the suspects in the parking lot. Seven of them were arrested and one man ran from the scene and police are still looking for him. Of the seven taken into custody, one was a 14-year-old.
The six adults charged and held in jail are Devondre Evans-Lewis, Andrew Shannon, Darris Evans, Terry Arnold, Derry Evans, and Anthony Gildersleeve.
The Scott County Attorney says several of the men have criminal histories and they are all from the Twin Cities metro area. They range in age from 18 to 22-years-old.
All six adults have been charged with 3rd degree felony assault causing substantial bodily harm.

I don't disagree; however, it is really sad that this country has gotten to the point that sometimes the best chance for justice is prison gang rape.

So the 12 year old daughter gets groped, her father defends her, and then she gets to watch her father almost get beaten to death by a gang of thugs.
My initial comment was, "When the father recovers, they should tie up each of the thugs and allow the father to beat each one with a baseball bat." I was wrong. They just need to take them out and shoot them like you would any other rabid animals.

I don’t know much about criminal law, but I’d think kicking an unconscious victim to that extent would warrant an attempted murder charge.

personally, i’m irritated that the woman would stand there and watch.
she should’ve either jumped in and helped defend the daughter, or grabbed the girl and ran.
but just standing there is further endangering the child. after they were finished with daddy, they could have very easily gone after mommy and daughter.

I’d say instead of salt water bath (may pass out), strap them down, back up, and for the next 24 hours, saltwater Chinese water torture. Don’t know which spot of the back gets it next. Probably not enough pain to pass out, but enough to really make them wish they’d pass out.

Normally, I'd say that these charges are just for openers until the prosecutor can work up even more serious charges.
But this is Minnesota, and, worse yet, liberal Minneapolis/St Paul, so you never know how things will ultimately work out. If the normal pattern holds, one of the accused (or their mother) will claim the victim used a racial epithet without justification (sexual groping being acceptable behavior) and provoked his own beating. The victim will probably be accused of some racial offense by the local Human Rights Council and ordered to pay restitution even if he doesn't survive hospitalization.
It is cultural. Western Culture vs. the backward cultures of the world.
This is the future. Western Culture had better reassert itself or we are screwed.

These guys each made bail of $40-60K each? With what..... drug money???? Thugs like this normally don’t have access to that kind of cash.
Also, felony assault sounds kind of light if they were kicking him while he was unconscious.
I think it’s usually some percentage of bail that has to be in cash (10-20%?) probably their ‘aunt’s’ house or something.
$20 says at least half are arrested for other things between now and any trial.

The eighth person hasn't been found, said Shakopee Capt. Jeff Tate. He said the victim asked that his name not be released because he fears retaliation from his attackers who have been released after posting bail. He said the group, one of whom slapped the 12-year-old girl on her butt, didn't know the victim's family.
I hope the father and mother are both carrying concealed handguns from now on, regardless of whether or not Minnesota laws allows it. Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six.
Of course, $40-60K is only $4-6K in real life. Should have been higher IMHO.
