THE HAGUE (Reuters) - The World Court on Wednesday ordered the United States to do everything necessary to ensure five Mexicans on death row are not executed before the court makes a judgment in a dispute between the two countries.
One of the five on death row, Jose Medellin, is due to die on August 5 in Texas.
In 2004 the World Court found in favor of Mexico and ruled the United States had violated international law by failing to inform 51 Mexicans sentenced to death of their right to consular assistance and ordered the cases should be reviewed.

In 2004 the World Court found in favor of Mexico and ruled the United States had violated international law by failing to inform 51 Mexicans sentenced to death of their right to consular assistance and ordered the cases should be reviewed.
In 2005 U.S. President George W. Bush directed state courts to do so but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in March that Bush had no authority to do this, leading Texas to schedule Medellin's execution for August.
Thank goodness the decision wasn't left up to Presidente Bush alone. Thank God for the SCOTUS! I can't believe I just typed that.
So how many Divisions does the World Court have?
Eff the world court. Let them be moved to Zimbabwe, utilizing the services of the 101st Airborne!
Just as useless as the UN.
the president has to uphold treaties...he did that the first time he suspended the death sentences of these creeps ( he had no choice he was bound by law to ) now that the treaty issue has been settled, he can tell the world court to go pound sand..
“I trust that the local sheriffs office acting in conjuction with the Boy Scouts of America will be sufficient to repel any invasion.”
They sure better not screw up and land in Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s jurisdiction.
Blah, blah, blah. Kangaroo court (with apologies to kangaroos).
“Didn’t this come up a few months ago? Bush agreed with it, but the SC said the states had a right to continue with the executions, or something to that effect. Am I remembering correctly?”
President Bush did try to stop it but the Supreme Court said no. The ruling basically said that Congress did not pass any legislation to make this treaty into a law and that the President could not compell Texas to follow the World Court’s ruling. The Supreme Court gave the bird to the World Court.
They need to just proceed with the execution and be done with it.
So how many Divisions does the World Court have?
With the properly placed C4 charges..It could have many divisions.
SOoo... you think George Bush is NOT a globalist eh!?..
Other globalists.. Kingfish Obama, the weasle McLaim and the Queen of Hearts, Clinton..
BOHICA...
It was a different case, and I am not sure that it involved the World Court.
You honestly believe that President Bush made his original decision to uphold a treaty? Apparently he was also upholding an international treaty when he sent Johnny Sutton down to Mexico to retrieve a scumbag drug smuggler to testify against Ramos and Compean. With all due respect, you should realize by now that "our" POTUS is deeply in bed with the Mexican oligarchy.
BTW, thank you for your service.
What are you talking about? That's exactly the point I made!
With the properly placed C4 charges..It could have many divisions.
LOL! Well said!
Other than issuing a pardon, the POTUS lacks any powers to interfere with the scheduled executions by the State of Texas.
Yes.
When is this insanity going to end?!
Never. Even if Bush tells them to kiss off this time, they'll bring the "we-have-jurisdiction-over-the-US" crap back for the next president, whether it's Obama or McCain. And the one after that, and the one after that.
August 5th can't get here quick enough. I wonder how many illegal aliens the state of Texas has put to death? I'd think it would have to be more than any other state in the union.
Ill wait for a ruling from the Food Court.>>>>
Now that is funny!
...you have no sovereignty here. In order for this to stick, it has to go through our Senate (which I don’t believe it has.)
Have a nice day.
(Interesting that the leftists in the world court think we interfer in the business of other nations.)
