I'm a lifelong conservative activist and I'm backing Barack Obama (Maggot gagger)
NY Daily News ^ | 7/16/08 | Larry 'retard' Hunter

Posted on 07/16/2008 8:45:04 PM PDT by pissant

I'm a lifelong Republican - a supply-side conservative. I worked in the Reagan White House. I was the chief economist at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for five years. In 1994, I helped write the Republican Contract with America. I served on Bob Dole's presidential campaign team and was chief economist for Jack Kemp's Empower America.

This November, I'm voting for Barack Obama.

When I first made this decision, many colleagues were shocked. How could I support a candidate with a domestic policy platform that's antithetical to almost everything I believe in?

The answer is simple: Unjustified war and unconstitutional abridgment of individual rights vs. ill-conceived tax and economic policies - this is the difference between venial and mortal sins.

Taxes, economic policy and health care reform matter, of course. But how we extract ourselves from the bloody boondoggle in Iraq, how we avoid getting into a war with Iran and how we preserve our individual rights while dealing with real foreign threats - these are of greater importance.

John McCain would continue the Bush administration's commitment to interventionism and constitutional overreach. Obama promises a humbler engagement with our allies, while promising retaliation against any enemy who dares attack us. That's what conservatism used to mean - and it's what George W. Bush promised as a candidate.

Obviously the guy has mental problems, a disconnect with reality and world events, an inability to rationalize and see a person for who they truly are- sort of like a guy who sees a fat chick as a skinny chick.

He should seek help.

I think the title should be changed to “I love Stalin and Mao and want to support someone like them.”

"I'm a lifelong conservative... " Now, if you're really a conservative, why do you need to reassure people of your credentials when you're supporting a candidate whose philosophy and voting record are at complete odds with everything you believe in? No one abandons their life long beliefs because of a liberal's good looks. Which leads one to think there's another reason why he feels compelled to tell us he's voting for Obama and its not the one he's offering on the record.

If the truth be known, he probably voted for McCain in the primary. I know somebody voted for McCain in the primary but very few are willing to admit it. I get a kick out of all the people on this forum who are going around shilling for McCain and telling people like me why I should vote for the RINO relic. But they do not acknowledge or admit that they voted for him in primary. I remember the Burger King commercial that was looking of Herb, supposedly the only guy in America who never ate a whopper. I am kind of looking for ANYONE who will admit voting for the old geezer in the primary. After I read this article, may be I found one.

Unjustified war ..... - this is the difference between venial and mortal sins.

War was declared on USA. What part of 911 didn't he get. Biblically, sin is sin. This joker suffers from a lack of knowledge and wisdom. No conservative is this clueless - he only posed as a one and this loser just outed himself. He approves of abortion and ruling from the bench - conservative, my a##.

Taxes, economic policy and health care reform matter, of course.

So signing on for higher taxes designed to redistribute the wealth and fund a socialist agenda, one that will see US taxpayers funding foreign despots in the name of socialist "charity" (it is your "moral" obligation to fund the Left's religion, despite what the ACLU has been insisting in a "separation of church and state").

Obama is already onboard for wars, er "peace keeping" missions in Darfur and elsewhere.

How was the Iraq war "unjustified" when we were at war with Saddam's Iraq in the early 1990s and from the get go Saddam was violating the peace agreement reigniting the war? We are not at war against Iraq anymore, we fight alongside Iraqis and with the government, not against it. Was Afghanistan wrong? Obomber is supporting escalation of that war.

Where is the Constitution is Obama's plan for redistribution of wealth and controlling your thermostat and diet? Those rights don't count?

Enough of this idiotorial. Stick a fork in this useful idiot, he's done already. "Go Dole/Kemp". Yeah, that did wonders for us.

What is this guy smoking? I haven't heard Obama say anything about retaliation against anyone. I guess when you support an empty suit, you can fill it with anything you want.

I share your sentiment, but I'm "voting" to relocate to a place where my new neighbors value freedom and liberty a whole lot more than my current neighbors.

This "experiment" is over.

You had me going there, at first I thought it might be THE Rush. But I guess he has a show to do tomorrow and doesn’t need to give Viacom’s comedy network news channel the ratings.

I'd like to ask Larry Hunter to name me the sum total of Obama's military service record. Heh.

"I'm not a Liberal, I'm a Progressive" has evolved into "I'm not a Liberal, I'm a life long Conservative."

“Obama promises a humbler engagement with our allies, while promising retaliation against any enemy who dares attack us.”

LOL! Exactly where and when has Obama ever expressed humility or behaved in any manner of humility? So, why should we entrust our lives, our liberty, and our sacred honor to Obama’s “humility”?

WTF is a Larry Hunter? And I’m supposed to be in awe that he worked for Dole and Kemp?

During the 90s I remember many Democrats switching to the Republican Party. I wonder how many of them worked on Truman’s campaign or worked on JFK’s tax cuts or with Brezhnev’s KGB? And I’m supposed to be impressed with “Larry Hunter”?

I seriously doubt this guy is a life-long conservative.

More than likely, much like McCain, he is another moderate/liberal who has held conservative positions on some issues but when one looks at the totality of their actions it is not too difficult to correctly label them moderate/libera.

It’s real simple. This guy started out as a leftist, lived his life as a leftist, and is still a leftist. He merely decided to fake it for a few years or decades, with plans to run hard to the left in full public view at a time when the Marxist cause needed him most. The brilliant idea is he could convince a significant number of conservatives to imitate him.

So now he pulls the trigger, but the problem is that the logic behind his belief that others would follow him in running to the left is based on the premise that his opinion is worth more than two cents.

Of course, I don’t have hard evidence that this is the true scenario, but it makes a whole lot more sense than one in which a real conservative actually decides to vote for Obama. That just wouldn’t happen.
