Senator Barack Obama usually draws a gaggle of reporters around with him, but on his first overseas trip as a presidential candidate, he will be accompanied by high-profile media stars.
The anchors of all three US television networks, ABC's Charlie Gibson, CBS's Katie Couric and NBC's Brian Williams, are to interview Obama during his trip through five countries in Middle East and Europe.
In what is already shaping up as a major media extravaganza, the Obama camp has been bombarded with requests from at least 200 reporters desperate to land interviews on board his plane.
The extraordinary coverage planned for the trip reflects the public's fascination with Mr Obama, the first black presidential nominee for major political party and a relative newcomer to the international stage.

McCain aide Jill Hazelbaker was sharper in her criticism, saying
"Lets drop the pretence that this is a fact-finding trip and call it what it is: the first of its kind campaign rally overseas".
However the risk of being accompanied by high-profile anchors and bright television spotlights means that should Obama makes a gaffe, it would give McCain an opening to attack.
In March when McCain was visiting Amman, Jordan, he publicly and mistakenly accused Iran of backing the Sunni extremist group al Qaeda in Iraq.
Obama also showed his ability to dominate news coverage during the Democratic primary campaign when Hillary Clinton complained of the soft treatment meted out to her rival, while she was subjected to tough questions.
He has also featured on Time and Newsweek covers 12 times in the past three years, compared with just five for McCain.
This follows reports that Barack Obama's campaign has raised raised $52m (£26m) in June, his second highest monthly total and more than double the $22m raised by his rival McCain.

And I always thought the 3 alphabet networks were fair and impartial/sarc.
Obama’s halo polishers.
This media frenzy does carry a risk. The public may see such an obvious blatant attempt by the media to win the election for Obama that it might invoke a public sympathetic reaction/backlash against Obama in favor of McCain. Or is this just wishful thinking on my part?
We will see how Obama performs when he gets outside these 57 states.
Conventional wisdom would suggest that the months of glowing one-sided coverage should help Obama. But perhaps too much off a "good thing" starts to look suspicious and drives independents and Hillary! folks away?
No, it doesn't. It reflects the press's fascination and is intended to manipulate the public's. I do not ever recall quite as blatant and transparent an attempt at coronation, not even Clinton's in '92. This is beyond amusing and well into disgusting.
The MSM has to be there to protect their chosen one and to try and make him look good.
Barack and the Four Press Secretaries of the Obamaclypse.
Bill Burton, assisted by the “pretext be damned” Brian Williams, Charles Gibson & Katie Couric.
Total con job on the American public....
It will be interesting to see the video that is shot by the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. I’m sure it will be a little different than what the msm is going to treat us to every night.
The MSM has pulled out all the stops for this presidential election.
So much so that they have virtually announced their agenda.
Time Inc. managing editor, in an interview, has told the world they are biased leftists. Bias will be in their reporting.
AP has put the kabosh on websites using their material and, just this week, announced that their news will contain overt leftist opinion/commentary.
They know that an Osama presidency and socialist congress will ensure reinstitution of the fairness doctrine. When that happens, the MSM news will be unscrutinized, while talk radio, identified as rightwing even though they broadcast the truth, will be quashed as biased.

He needs his slavish adoring syncopants in the media to gloss over the continual stream of gaffes he’s going to be making on his Grand Tour. He’s a nitwit and it takes all these networks to cover that up.
Oh, look! The MSM is still talking about one McCain mistake months ago. How many "refinements," flip-flops, misspeaks, "I didn't know him," and just out-and-out stupid things has the Obambi said over these past few months?
bias for the liberals to believe that it really is the truth...........NOT!
And we don’t fall for the biased reports, do we?
I think they need a strong discrimination suit against them from the McCain camp.
They will be edited out. The stories will not be live but will be advertised as live. Any discrepancies will be noted as "satellite delay."

The media will create a long running FREE commercial for B. Hussein O. that will cast him in the best possible light using staged photo ops all along the way. Rumor has it that he will be prompted to feed a multitude using only loaves and fish.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
That is the problem, in their blindness the MSM thinks they are balanced, without bias (even though 90% of the MSM media votes Democrat). That is why the Fairness Doctrine will never apply to them, because they believe themselves to always be fair. They are delusional.
Newsweek should drop all pretenses and just announce that the mag is now called Obamaweek.

I think this is good since it will be harder for Bambi to cover up the huge gaffs he’ll make and also the more you see this arrogant a**clown the more people get turned off.
It will all be edited.
Don’t be such a damn defeatist. Youtube, Rush, Hannity, and other sources keep that from being invisible.
I got this sneaking feeling that everything that could be known about the O-Man isn’t known yet.
And if it sees the light of day, or hell, the dark of night, before the election, he’s a haz ben.
I’m shocked, I tell ya, SHOCKED, that the media would drop their darling McCain and go out with that “other guy”. Why, the NERVE!
