Maybe the Indy-500 should be run on Memorial Day like it used.
Indy is the bigger race. It shouldn't have to move. Plus, if you run Charlotte on Saturday, it allows both tracks a chance to reschedule in case of rain out. A more sensible solution, in my mind, is to move the Indy time back to 11:00, as it used to be, and run Charlotte on Saturday. A rain out on Saturday could allow the race to be moved to Sunday with a start time of, say, 7:00 p.m., which would still allow drivers to run both races if necessary.
Moving Indy to Monday presents rain problems.
Someone made the comment yesterday that it was like going to a dirt track with all the powder flying.
I’d rather have it as it is now with both races the same day.
Drivers jumping between series is only a novelty and to make wholesale changes in an attempt to benefit a few, that may or may not actually race, IMO is not beneficial.

If you mean novelty in the sense that it only happens a few times a year, then I agree--and it should. But if you mean novelty in the sense of gimmick, then I'm not sure I agree. I think "specialization," so to speak, is pretty new. Mario Andretti, for instance, won F1, Indy, and Daytona. AJ Foyt won Indy and Daytona. Heck, Indy even used to be on the F1 calendar--as it should be.

Why is that? Wouldn’t a true road course be better for F1. Indy is starting to look like one of those do-it-all gadgets you see on TV. Why not if you have horses for courses not tracks for cars?
Because Indianapolis is the biggest and most important race in the world. If you claim a world championship--as does Formula One--then that "world championship" should properly include the biggest race in the world.
But even leaving that aside, if you are a race car driver, you should race Indy because it's the best. The same goes for Le Mans. Race car drivers should drive there.
I had heard that Tony was warned up front not to trash Goodyear.....Whether that’s true or not, it wouldn’t surprise me.
That race was very painful to watch, what a bunch of babies, cars with training wheels, let them race or cancel it, what a rip. Indy Cars rock, Nascar is for whimps.

It has history - for Indy cars - but that is about it. For Nascar, Rocky is more important historically.
Le Mans is an endurance race. Not a drivers race. It goes for 24 hours and lots of changes of drivers. It is all about engineering.

That's not correct. Again, Indianapolis was formerly on F1's schedule. It counted for the points. Even following its removal from the schedule, a lot of F1 drivers continued to race at Indy. Indeed, F1 drivers have a long history at Indianapolis.

Best everything. Best race, best venue, best month, best trophy, best traditions, best qualifying, best PA announcer, best crowd, and, yes, best track. I don't see anyone else kneeling down to kiss a row of bricks at any other track on Earth.

Le Mans and Indy make up two of the three legs of the Triple Crown for motorsports. These races are historically important for motorsports. And not a driver's race? Is that why Tom Kristensen wins year after year with umpteen different teams?

Nascar made a decision, one it said would make racing more competitive, level the field, make it cheaper to operate the cars, and waa laaa, First full year, they got bit.
The CoT down forces in the turns on the right scrubbed the t’ars real quick, the comments about compound used, inner miner t’ar pressure, new abrasive surface, all add up but the car aero also has to come in to play and did,
Big Time, imo. and the sad fact is , it is more of a Tank.

It’s too bad they didn’t run a second race with classic cars from a coupe years ago and see how many cautionary cautions they have to take. I might even pay to see it. ;-)

It is correct. The Big Indianapolis 500 was never part of F1 at least since the 70s. And I’m petty sure never. For a while Indianapolis was an F1 venue and terribly supported as a F1 venue. There is no one winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. There are different winners for each class. The funny thing is that in the American version of this the ALMS, there are only a handful of cars. Lots of passing because there are four classes on the track at all times. But passing within each class is rare!!!

It was the side force not the down force. Nascar cars slide. Indy cars stick.

Thanks, slide they do, it chewed ‘em up pretty good.. haven’t seen that much cord in ages.. the longest run green flag wise was 12..
unfortunately, teams are limited on adjustments they could have made to try and offset it a bit.
