Well, considering that many Parks contain wild animals and you have just brought lunch into their dining room, I think it would be an excellent idea to have a way to defend yourself in case a bear or mountain lion want to join the picnic.

Just in case a bear or mountain lion have decide you yourself would be a tasty morsel.

Its never stopped me. When traveling, my friend Glock goes along. If I travel through Illinois, it is with me. If I go to Yellowstone, it is with me.

I was just in Yellowstone, and was happily armed. Saw a grizzley and cub too. Luckily the gun was in the car when I was attacked by a crazy california liberal while photographing geysers.

The bigger point is there is a lot of crime that happens in parks as they are a “NO ZONE.” Lots of women are accosted by predators in parks, and have no means of self-defense, and certainly park police are of not much use, just ask the Clintons about that one.

There should be a no guns policy -- NO GUNS ALLOWED.
That way my family can enjoy the National Parks without fear of some bad man with a gun shooting us.

Absolutely true. There have been several serial killings of women in national parks that have been at the top of the news...best thing about guns is they can be used against both 2 and 4 legged predators.

The two-legged predators far outnumber the 4-legged and are the real danger. Parks are magnets for criminals, particularly around parking lots and trailheads. I dated a Park Ranger LEO and found out what REALLY goes on in the parks - definitely changed my behavior from mostly oblivious to ‘on alert’ and always cautious.

Right!
Our property backs up to the Olympic National Forest. You have bears, cougars, coyotes, bobcats and then the two-legged varmints ..... never go up there without packing something.
