LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- The AIDS epidemic among African-Americans in some parts of the United States is as severe as in parts of Africa, according to a report out Tuesday.
"Left Behind - Black America: A Neglected Priority in the Global AIDS" is intended to raise awareness and remind the public that the "AIDS epidemic is not over in America, especially not in Black America," says the report, published by the Black AIDS Institute, an HIV/AIDS think tank focused exclusively on African-Americans.
"AIDS in America today is a black disease," says Phill Wilson, founder and CEO of the institute and himself HIV-positive for 20 years. "2006 CDC data tell us that about half of the just over 1 million Americans living with HIV or AIDS are black."
Although black people represent only about one in eight Americans, one in every two people living with HIV in the United States is black, the report notes.
The report uses just-released data from UNAIDS and existing CDC and Census data to highlight grim statistics:
• AIDS remains the leading cause of death among black women between ages 25 and 34. It's the second-leading cause of death in black men 35-44. Explainer: AIDS: A black disease » • In Washington, more than 80 percent of HIV cases are among black people, that's one in 20 residents.
"Five percent of the entire population (in DC) is infected... that's comparable to countries like Uganda or South Africa," Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told CNN for the recent "Black in America" documentary.
According to this report, if black Americans made up their own country, it would rank above Ethiopia (420,000 to 1,300,000) and below Ivory Coast (750,000) in HIV population.

In the black community, which is my community (or half my community lol) there’s a phenomenon of men who sleep with men who pretend that they are not gay and sleep with women. It’s called ‘living on the down low’ and it is reprehensible. Its how AIDS has come to be spread. Black people need to stop blaming white america for everything, and take responsibility for themselves. Rev. Wright has no problem with men who sleep with men, and chooses to blame all his ills on white america. Obama wants to pretend he’s giving “tough love” to black people but everyone knows that’s all for votes.
It’s the prison delusion.
Many convicts who rape other men believe as long as you are the pitcher and not the catcher you are not a homosexual.This applies to all races.
It just so happens blacks are a large percentage of convicts so these homosexuals in denial spread the false philosophy,along with AIDS,throughout the “hood.”

If there is one segment of our government that is responsible for the spread of AIDS, it is the Demoncrat party. For decades now, they have abandoned any type of moral code, choosing instead to embrace all forms of deviancy, sexual or otherwise, as some form of "tolerant" badge of honor. They have coddled the gay community on every issue, from pushing the gay lifestyle in public schools and teaching it as being "just as normal" as the heterosexual lifestyle(nevermind the increased health risks that accompany gay sex) to gay marriage, further diluting the already shaky insititution of marriage in this nation.
If Jeremiah Wright wants to blame the government for a conspiracy to spread AIDS in the black community, he can point his bony finger at the Democrat party, pc liberals in general, his own candidate Obama and others of his ilk, and his own church, none of which have any moral compass whatsoever.
What a joke Wright is. He blames the government for giving the black community AIDS, yet publicly supports the lifestyle that spreads it. Great thinking there, Rev. And that's the idiot that Obama calls a 20 year "mentor." lmao.
And what's the liberal answer? Teaching first graders to put a condom on a banana, and money, lots of money.

The most shocking of this is in Washngton, D.C., where the HIV infection rate among men is something over 50% if memory serves.
I suppose congress will appologize for this too.?
Considering the number of young, black 16-25 year-olds in the US prison system, as well as the social stigmas of HIV and homosexuality within the black community, why should this surprise anyone?
Only a massive expenditure of taxpayer dollars will do.
