Alaska's Palin Faces Probe Star GOP Governor To Be Investigated For Abuse of Office By JIM CARLTON July 31, 2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- When Sarah Palin was elected governor as a Republican outsider in 2006, she didn't just take on an incumbent from her own party. She took on Alaska's Republican establishment.

Ms. Palin vowed to clean up a long-cozy political system that had been sullied by an FBI corruption investigation. She endeared herself to Alaskans by making good on her reform promises and showing homey touches, like driving herself to work.

Now, one of the bright new stars in the Republican Party has suddenly become tarnished. The state legislature this week voted to hire an independent investigator to see whether Ms. Palin abused her office by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired from his job as an Alaska state trooper.

This is nothing but a headline, suspiciously timed.

I agree. If you read the article, her concern about the ex-brother in law was substantiated. Although the most serious charges against him were thrown out, he was ultimately suspended for five days.

This is sour grapes from a Department of Public Safety Commissioner that she fired in July. He is now throwing mud at her and hoping that some of it will stick.

She fired her FORMER brother-in-law? Who on God’s Green Earth couldn’t agree with that?

“Yeah one has to wonder if the police would think it was not a crime for anyone else to test a stun gun on a 10 year old whether the 10 year old “requested” it or not.”

Good point!!

Night of the long knives.

I really hope so. Anything to be rid of the (ahem) "turds" that have been running/ruining the party for decades.

Vote for McCain's Fine Gold and his non-concern for our civil liberties? Forgetit. I'm not going to hope to see "patriots watering the roots of Tree of Liberty" either (the self-professed same make lots of noise but never get any action going).

America sinking into the sunset will make a grand spectacle for my camera, and my pocketbook. Make it so, y'all. (And don't say I hadn't warned you.)

After reading the article, I’m on Palin’s side. She apparently has made enemies within her own party, and they are out to get her.

Never under estimate the power of the MSM. Truth and proportion are not required in todays “bumper sticker” society. Once the citizens are no longer educated, but rather taught the proper responses to the given “key words and tricky phrases” then truth and thought are no longer important. All that matters is that the Powers That Be said so.

There is no population so easy to control as one that is ignorant, and thinks itself educated.

This is a mock investigation. She’s too popular so the legislature wanted to knock her down a couple pegs. Her ex-BIL is the trooper. He tased an 11 year old and made threats against the family. So Palin and her husband told their concerns to the Commissioner. The guy she fired was LOVED by the UNION. They were p’oed when she fired him. Then when one of her opponents in the general election wrote about the family situation in his blog, the media and the Union ran with it. She didn’t even fire the guy; she offered him a different position.

Anyway, the trooper they were supposedly trying to get fired should have been fired. The UNION protected him of course. The guy got in a bar fight then drove a trooper car after drinking. Another trooper was called and drove him home...without giving a breathalizer. If that was me or you...

Folks, please read the article. This is just Rats in the legislature throwing mud. This is no different than Kucinich having hearings to impeach Bush. Then duly reported by the MSM because of the “seriousness of the charges” (shame on the WSJ).

The allegation is that she abused her office in 2005, yet she was elected governor in 2006. WTF?

The Rats fear this woman, which is why she should be McCain’s VP choice.

Sarah Palin was never a good choice. She is smart and tough, but when she opens her mouth, she sounds like the woman cop in the movie “Fargo”.

She has created a lot of enemies in Alaska, including within her own party, especially when she was Ethics Commissioner on the state’s Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and in her run for Governor. This is Alaska state politics. Since when does accusations such as this rise to a level which would disqualify her from running as VP? There is no doubt, in my mind, that this old news, and it has been known locally in Alaska for some time, was posted to discredit her by someone who has ties to another possible VP candidate.

Yeah, she kind of gets it from both sides. The liberal democrats and the old-guard Republicans.

Interesting. Has she pi$$ed off too many Republicans, so that they’re willing to jump in bed with the Dems to try to get rid of her?

Much ado about nothing. She has more ethics in her little finger than the whole of the MSM who want to bring her down.
