Workers at Tyson Foods' poultry processing plant in Shelbyville will no longer have a paid day off on Labor Day, but will instead take the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr in the fall.
A recent press release from the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) stated that a new contract at the Shelbyville facility "implements a new holiday to accommodate the ... Muslim workers at the plant."
The RWDSU stated that "the five-year contract creates an additional paid holiday, Iidal Fitil, a Muslim holiday that occurs toward the end of Ramadan."

I admit to sometimes giving in and buying some Tyson products on occasion. They want to be sure I don’t do that again, I guess.

Are there very many religions that believe they need their own prayer room, free of taint from “non-insiders” and “non-believers”?
We know that. But apparently Tyson doesn’t...............or just doesn’t care.
Not that I can think of.
But since Tyson has given them an opening, the non-Muzzie employees should go ahead and ask for a chapel. Fair is fair. :-)
I can't find it this morning but its a interesting percentage.
If I remember correctly its at 20% that they are to become politically active, and begin to demand change in the laws to reflect sharia.
I really hate to see this happen any where but I have a soft spot for this area of the country. I used to fly for a company that did a lot buisness in Tullahoma, Tn, very close to Shelbyville, a great area, wonderful people there.
Tyson also demonstrated a similar disregard in Arkansas, where Huckster ran interference for them to make sure their factories were well-stocked with illegals. Absolutely appalling.
So far, they really haven’t invaded Tullahoma much. They seem to be staying in Shelbyville for the most part.
It’s only a matter of time, I suppose.
Instead of asking for their own prayer room, the other religions should ask that Tyson give the equivalent rent per square foot of the Muslim prayer room be given to a Christian or Jewish charity...
One of many reasons I’m glad Huckabee didn’t get the nod this year.
Though Tyson has been pulling a lot of crap for years, they still manage to do things that make my jaw drop. This is one of them.
I like your idea! That way, Tyson would be giving something back to the community.
Which means they probably wouldn’t go for it.

Thanks for posting this as many of us want to know if any company is turning towards acceptance of Islam is lieu of traditional America.
Based on the reactions of folks I emailed this to earlier today........er, yesterday........many folks share your sentiments.
There’s a point when things are carried too far and Tyson is closing in on it.
Are you noticing any uptick in local crime by these folks ?
