RICHMOND, Va. - U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia has been asked for "personal documents" by John McCain's campaign, a Republican knowledgeable with the discussions said Saturday.
Cantor, 45, the chief deputy minority whip in the House, has been mentioned among several Republicans as a possible running mate for McCain, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.
The Republican familiar with the conversations between Cantor and the McCain campaign said Cantor has been asked to turn over documents, but did not know specifically what records were sought.

Cool! Thanks for looking it up and getting the link. I thought I remembered his name yesterday at some point, but wasn’t sure.
So far, he sounds pretty good. Is his seat safe in the House if he leaves? I would rather have Mike Pence, but am not sure his seat would be safe if he left at this point.
I get nervous taking our sitting Senators and Representatives away...we need to keep all the ones we have right now.
Amtrak is something that his district gets some benefit from as do many others in VA.
However, I know enough liberals who hate him so he can’t be all bad.
After I posted it I was afraid my post might be misunderstood.
I should have posted hubba hubba.
Here are some cute kittens to make up for my jerky behavior.
Another ruse...McCain campaign is having lots of fun with the VP choice...keeping everyone wondering...LOL
He spoke yesterday at the press conference following the Take Over of the House after the Dems shut them out. I was impressed with his demeanor and ability to get the point across succinctly.
Don’t know much about him but his performance yesterday made me notice him.
I assume they are both females.
With the possible exception of Hucksterbee, I can say the same about almost anyone under consideration as VP.
LMAO, now THAT is the post of the night!
Hillary McRomney! Something for EVERYONE not to like!
LOL
Absolutely true, but specifically McCain's VP choice has implications that do not normally apply. Most especially because so many of us can hardly stand the thought of voting for McCain and will only do so as a vote against Obama (or more likely as every Obama deflating moment goes by, Hillary).
If he picks Crist, Huckabee, Kasich, Ridge, etc., he'll lose Conservative votes--how many is hard to say. Palin doesn't want to leave Alaska right now, Jindal is needed in LA and will be great for the future. Romney is personally admirable and I don't care about his religion, but his record is just too liberal for me. Fortunately, very seldom (except in this special case) will a VP choice sink a candidate. People vote for the #1.
McCain's age requires someone people can feel safe with if he has to take over. I didn't know who this guy was before today either, but apparently he has been in GOP leadership since 2002 so he has some experience--a hell of lot more than Obambam and actually more than Her Heinous.
The fact that he showed fight yesterday is also very encouraging for me, but it also looks like he hasn't done anything that--as #2--would scare off the PUMA types and Conservative Dems who are potential McCain voters. They wouldn't vote for him as #1 I'm sure, but he'd be #2...
Bottom line: We'd better pick somebody who won't continue the destruction of the Republican Party if he inherits the position in midterm or who would be a horrible choice to carry on as the incumbent VP and almost certain party leader in 2012 if/when McCain chooses not to run for a second term.
IOW I guess I'm finding this possibility a very good surprise and I'm hopeful and could vote FOR this team, especially as Cantor apparently does NOT share McCain's worst (IMO) position--Amnesty.
OTOH your point is a good one and I just "met" him today electronically.
I wanted Chris Cox for VP in 2000!
Here is a video of him at the presser for those interested:

Do you ever get the impression, as I do, that most of the “I’d hit it” posters probably look like John Goodman or Michael Moore?
He's young (45) but has no experience except as a lawyer (for a family business) and as a House member.
This is not a record I'd want to try to sell as a heartbeat away from the Presidency when Obama's inexperience is his major weakness. This guy makes Obama look experienced!
Don't want to. McPain needs someone like Mitt with a proven track record that IS conservative.
LOL! Thats funny!
He's voted 97% conservative for seven years. What more need a politician do?
I’ve always wanted Pence, too, and with him leading lights-out yesterday on drilling we might get him?
It’s pretty good record that I’m seeing.
me too.
