RICHMOND, Va. - U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia has been asked for "personal documents" by John McCain's campaign, a Republican knowledgeable with the discussions said Saturday.
Cantor, 45, the chief deputy minority whip in the House, has been mentioned among several Republicans as a possible running mate for McCain, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.
The Republican familiar with the conversations between Cantor and the McCain campaign said Cantor has been asked to turn over documents, but did not know specifically what records were sought.

Oh! You are so right about the color coded alert system! I had forgotten that.
He is too close to Bush. Liability this year. And he is a white guy, also a liability this year.
We best not be color blind, or they will punch us in the face, and blind us!
Who is on the campaign. Cuz they are idiots! He shouldn’t listen to a thing they say. They haven’t done a darn thing. It is the worst camgaign I have seen since Bob Dole. It is horrible. It does seem that he is “out of touch”, like Obama always says.
There are some great young republicans out there. He needs some of them on his team. He needs to listen to the FReepers! There are no better advisers out there, than who is on this board!
Course, sadly the poor man has to wait for someone to find webpages for him....again, I ask, who is on his campaign team? Someone needs to get him to this site!
I don’t know. If the world made sense, Duncan Hunter would be the candidate.
Now, we have to work with what we have.
Good Post.
I swear some here wouldn’t be satisfied with a McCain/ Moses ticket.
The Gentleman has voted solid conservative he has good experience credentials and as far as can be seen so far he comes with no baggage.
Cantor could be a very good pick.
In 2002, he beat Cooter from Dukes of Hazzard.

Listen, if were gonna ignore the will of the People of the United States....who clearly WANT a black person so badly that they will vote for anyone who talks well.....if we are going to ignore that and go ahead and have a white VP...
Then the only choice is:
Former Montana Governor Marc Racicot. He’s the best.
Very Conservative: Would be a big help to energize the Base especially with Mac’s age.
Very Jewish: Might help with the Jewish vote who’d love to see a Jewish VEEP.
Very Virginian: Could help keep VA in the GOP column.
Very Young (45): Compared to McCain. He’s a year younger than Obama.
Only problem: No Congressman has been elected Prez. since Garfield in 1880.
Ouch.
Cantor would be like Dan Quayle back in ‘88. Remember back then George H.W. Bush was an old guy even though he was still in his sixties. Quayle appealed to the soccer moms in the election.
Another stroke of genius from the bird brain. That’ll get us the worst possible of tickets, though it could be argued that any ticket led by McPain would qualify for that “honor”. What a revoltin’ development this is.
Thanks for thinking of the FR ladies...
He wouldn't be running for president, rather for the vice president position.
If you want to make up for the jerky behavior, how about posting a pic of the ‘other’ kitty instead?
Hm, never knew this guy, but he sounds passable. EXCEPT: does he have any experience outside politics? That is Romney’s great strength; he knows what runs the real world outside the Beltway, he’s a proven troubleshooter in both public and private arenas, and he was an accomplished governor (of the deepest-indigo state no less). He hasn’t been as consistently conservative as I’d like to see, but his real-world experience and accomplishments are compelling, and valuable in how they complement McCain’s own strengths and weaknesses.
Cantor sounds good, but I need some convincing the ticket (and the Administration) would work as well as with Romney as VP.
I do know that I will not be voting for a Liberal Republican. Particularly if I have a choice of a Conservative on my ballot in November. As it stands, I may have 2 at least, outside of socialist Obama and liberal McCain.
IMO, Eric Cantor would be a great choice. Much better than I would expect from McCain. I say, go for it!!
Good choice, I would prefer Duncan Hunter.
I like everybody better than McCain.
