Mitt Romney: Obama an 'Internet date'
The Chicago Tribune ^ | August 4, 2008 | Mark Silva

Posted on 08/04/2008 5:12:19 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Mitt Romney, proving himself ready to say all that the Republican ticket might count on him to say about the Democratic opposition, calls Barack Obama "an Internet date.''

But Romney does not say he's ready to join John McCain on the GOP's presidential ticket. He coyly suggests he won't be on it. (Which is precisely what a potential running mate should be saying.)

Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts who ran as McCain's own rival in the Republican presidential primaries, had some tough words for Obama, the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee, on the air this morning. Appearing on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Romney had this to say about the McCain campaign "Web ad'' likening Obama to Moses and the McCain campaign TV ad likening Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton:

"Being compared to Moses could hardly be considered a negative attack... I love the fact that John McCain is using humor, and he's pointing out something which people just haven't been saying, which is that Barack Obama is a well spoken, attractive man. But he's like an Internet date. We didn't know who he was. And now we're getting to know who he is... And we say gosh, this guy just doesn't have the judgment and experience, as Hillary Clinton used to say, to be president of the United States...

"I frankly think Barack Obama has been a media event in some respects,'' Romney suggested. "There really has not been an inspection of what he stands for and what he'd do for the country.'' And McCain's Spears-Hilton ad "really points out that he is a celebrity and a phenomenon, but not a leader.''

He also had this to say about Obama's openess, perhaps, to some off-shore oil drilling as part of a broader energy bill: On oil drilling. "I think it's both-ways Barack... He wanted to have it both ways.''

(Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Democratic candidate for vice president in 2000 and now a "Democrat for McCain,'' though he holds his seat in the Senate as an independent, had this to say about that Messianic Web-ad of McCain's featuring Charlton Heston as Moses. "In my book, that's about as good a comparison as you could ask for,'' Lieberman said on Morning Joe. "I should say, in THE book, it's about as good a comparison as you could ask for.''

So is Romney ready to take that talk to the campaign trail?

"I expect to be campaigning for the ticket. I do not expect to be a member of the ticket. John McCain has a lot of people to choose from,'' said Romney, adding: "I think the people of America select a president. They don't care so much who the vice president is.''

Romney also suggested that McCain may be holding off on that announcement: "He may be tempted to wait until after Barack Obama makes his choice... last up, best dressed.

"He's keeping his own company on that.''

Whenever the MSM (in this case the Trib) doesn't like an attack on Senator Obama, it must've been effective!

Obama an 'Internet date'

Lol! So funny! You are not sure what you really will get, until the date shows up. The pictures you saw before do not show the real person, much like Obama.

I like it. I think it would also be hilarious to see his teleprompter filled with “ah”s. That “ah” attack last week was amazing.

“........what he stands for and what he’d do for the country.’’

I am not concerned about what Obama would do FOR the country, but.... I am ready to go to war over what I think he would do TO our country.

He is limited in that his entire ideological content is Islamo-Communist racist America-hating--hence when deprived of his twenty-two (22) speech writers and a teleprompter, he makes Elmer Fudd the silver-tongued orator by comparison.

He is deathly--deathly--afraid of a town hall setting with John McCain. The three debates will see him with programmed responses and an earpiece for coaching.

A president ought to be more than a puppet of Soros et al.

Obama is not.

Phil I’m not convinced that McCain doesn’t have a serious Soros problem as well. What I will say is that at least McCain can think on this feet. I’ve never seen a candidate at any level say “ah” like that over and over again.

Obama would be a light weight for local city council.

That is by far one of the best shots of BHO I have seen — It’s true and it’s funny. Awesome.

Lol, I used to comment on all Obama’s “ah’s” during the debates. Now it is the big topic.

He and Hillary could have a conversation, Hillary says “well - ya know” and Obama says “ahh, ah”, repeat, repeat, ad nauseam...

Surprising to read that Mormons are only 1.7% of the population!

Something about Soros money and Arianna Huffington's platform in the propaganda push to ram Campaign Finance Reform down our throats.

Oh, yes, there are issues with John McCain which are One-of-these-days-Alice-POW-right-to-the-moon issues--

But we know with Obama we get machete-wielding Muslims burning Christians in their churches and I draw the line there.

O.K. I am about as anti-Myth Romney as anyone (because he is a flaming, flip-flopping, gun-grabbing, gay-loving, culture of death supporting liberal), but that IS very funny.

“calls Barack Obama “an Internet date.’’ “

I don’t have a lot positive to say about Romney ; but that is a great line.

I know some folks are convinced of that Phil. I’m not one of them. Obama is such an extreme lightweight, that I don’t think he will be very effective no matter what he wants to do. He talks big and waffles a lot.

If Obama tried to do 1/4 of what some folks are afraid he would, there would be an uprising in this nation that would make Nixon and Clinton look pristine by comparison. The Democrat party would be done as a viable political organization too.

That’s my take on it.

Lefties are in denial. This would even scare the bajeebers out of them.

Look, 10% of the U.S. at max likes what Wright was selling. The rest of the Democrats just don’t believe he was selling what he was. If Obama tried to implement that stuff, there would be 75% of the populace trying to tear down the White House fence to get to Obama.
