There was something sort of fun about watching the folks at CNN squirm when they were asked a slightly tough question. "Why did it take a skit on 'Saturday Night Live' to change the tone of the Democratic primary coverage?" asked a member of the Television Critics Association.
"Did it take a skit to change the coverage?" replied David Bohrman, the head of CNN's Washington bureau who heads up the network's political coverage.
Well, after an "SNL" sketch depicted a debate in which Hillary Clinton was asked tough, unfair questions while Barack Obama was tossed softballs, things did seem to change.
"I think the skit on 'Saturday Night Live' made us take a look at ourselves," CNN political analyst Gloria Borger said. "But I would also argue, however, that Barack Obama didn't get as soft coverage as everybody thought. ... I think, however, you took a look at that skit and you started asking some questions about being fair to both candidates."
So, it did take an "SNL" sketch to change the tone of the coverage, though CNN executives, anchors, reporters and analysts tried to explain it away.
"The underdog always gets sort of a little easier treatment 'til the underdog becomes the front runner and then gets the tough treatment," Borger said
CNN reporter Susan Malveaux argued that Obama coverage was "kind of a natural development," with the tougher treatment coming when "people started to take Barack Obama more seriously. ... I think that, naturally, the scrutiny got a lot tougher and that you kind of saw that progression that happened throughout the months." .................... Anchorman John King took an even more unusual route to excusing what happened he blamed Clinton.

When was B. Hussein Obama, aka “The Chosen One,” ever the “underdog?”
Now that Obama appears to be the front runner, are they planning to begin the tough treatment soon?
LOL... CNN’ll listen to SNL... but they still won’t acknowledge that America wants to drill, that the surge was a success and that tax-cuts increase revenue!
I don't believe he ever was, hence ‘the chosen one’.
Credit where credit is due, Rush Limbaugh's operation chaos was the beginning of the end for the mainstream love affair and their effort to skip the elections and impose King Barry Hussein.
CNN future questions to Obama and McCain.......
Cnn to Obama: do you like flowers?
Cnn to McCain: What will be the actual number of the GNP by the end of your presidency down to the last penny and can you state the formula by which you determine this exact number and site your references?
Cnn to Obama:Who is the love of your life?
Cnn to McCain:What sort of legislation will you support to end word hunger war and the AIDS crisis aznd what steps are you willing to take towards those goals?
Cnn to Obama: if everyone in America properly inflated their tires how much money would we take away from the greedy oil baron’s and how much could we give back to the American people?
Cnn to McCain: Oops!!!! Senator McCain that was your question we have no more questions for President select Obama
Even a week after Super Tuesday, people on this site were claiming that even though Obama did well, Clinton was still going to pull it out. Even when it was clear that Clinton could not match Obama in "elected" delegates, people on this site were still claiming that Clinton would use the Super Delegates to push her over the top.
If being in the lead and still having people convinced you have no chance of winning isn't an example of being an "underdog", I don't know how you would define it.
“Debates” with reporters asking questions is a joke.
Give them simple propositions to affirm or deny and give them each three shots at it: 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute.
Proposition: “The War in Iraq was necessary.”
Proposition: “Gasoline Prices will benefit from additional drilling in our own offshore & onshore areas?”
Proposition: “America needs every citizen covered by government health care?”
Cnn to Obama:Who is the love of your life?
If he hesitated, it’s himself.
Bump for later rant
Speaking of circles...............
The centerpiece of this new Obamatopia was his prediction that we will get one million, 150 mile-per-gallon plug-in (electric) hybrids on our roads within six years. Or approximately seven percent of new car sales. To put this prediction in perspective, consider that:
In 2001, Toyota and Honda introduced the first gas-electric hybrid models (the Prius and Insight). Seven years later, there are 16 hybrids on the market accounting for just 3 percent of all vehicle sales. Thats a real stretch, said David Cole, director of Michigans Center for Automotive Research (CAR), upon learning of Obamas forecast.
A plug-in car is not yet in production. GM and Toyota are both targeting 2010 for their market debuts, but both companies are struggling with the lithium-ion technology at the heart of those battery-powered vehicles.
Even assuming Obamas omniscience, an electricity-based market growing that fast will put increasing strains on the U.S. power grid. Yet, in his MSU speech, Obama also called on the American people to meet the goal of reducing our demand for electricity 15 percent by the end of the next decade. Considering that the federal Energy Information Agency predicts an 18 percent increase in electricity consumption during that time even before you add on electric car demand its hard to see how Obama squares his circle.
CNN- “Mr. Mcain- will you die of cancer soon?”
CNN- “Mr. Mccaineee do you support the deaths of over 4000 soldiers?”
Cnn- “ Mr. Mcain do you support the arrest of Karl Rove for
CNN - “Mr.Mcain your wife is rich- why hasn’t she showed us
her tax return?”
CNN- SENATOR OBAMA- how has your faith helped the poor
around the world?”
CNN- SENATOR Obama - “you look very healthy- how do you
find the time to keep yourself in shape?”
CNN- “SENATOR Obama - your lovely wife and you have been
married for how long?- what do you think of husbands
getting a divorce?”
THESE will be asked-

Apparently underdog is code for “skinny”.
Absolutely things did change. Instead of asking Hillary tough, unfair questions. They now ask McCain the tough, unfair questions.
Unless the underdog is a Republican.
