Interesting that there is such an emphasis on “genetic counseling” which is really just a euphemism for eugenics counseling.
Sometimes having information is not a good thing. I wonder how many parents have been unnecessarily agitated by tests that indicate that there is an elevated chance of their child having some sort of genetic anomaly, when the reality is the kid was just fine all along, not to mention the infanticides that result.
Genetic counseling is one of those things you should just say “no” to.
I agree- I know of two moms that were told their babies were not going to be able to survive their genetic problems, had to abort. Both refused, one a worman I worked with, one my daughter.
Both babies healthy and no problems at all. Can’t help but wonder how often that happens.
As has happened with two of my friends, both of whom were advised to abort.
I hear of it happening far too often.
I almost never hear of someone having a perfect sonogram only to have a child with some birth defect that they didn’t catch.
