Stories like this are important for more than the prurient aspect. For one thing, knowing the character of someone running for high office is a must; for another, someone seeking high office and carrying on like this is a candidate for blackmail and lawsuits.

Even if Edwards might not have been Obama’s VP pick, he could very well have been the A-G nominee. I think this revelation effectively ends both possibilities. Probably a good thing too given the way Edwards views the law.
