On adultery, Edwards cites McCain

The full version of Bob Woodruff's interview with John Edwards just aired on ABC, figuring Edwards alternately penitent, defensive, and dismissive of the tabloid reports that unearthed his affair.

He also, in explaining his view that his dalliance could remain private, cited Republican John McCain's reported affair at the end of his first marriage almost three decades ago.

"What I was thinking was this was something that was personal to my own family," Edwards said, citing other public figures having survived extramarital affairs. He recalled, he said, having heard "John Mccain talk about the mistakes that he’s made in his past with respect to his first marriage."

"I’m not the first person to do this," he said.

Edwards also heatedly denied that he's the father of Rielle Hunter's daughter, and explained his visit to see her in a Los Angeles hotel.

"I was there for a very simple reason – because I was trying to keep this mistake that I had made from becoming public," he said. "The bottom line was [Hunter's friend] said the purpose of the meeting was that she was having some trouble she just wanted to talk."

"Nothing was resolved – I didn’t talk to them about paying money or anything like that," he said.

He also distanced himself from a photograph that the National Enquirer said showed him holding Hunter's baby.

"I have absolutely no idea what that picture is," he said. "I have no idea who that baby is."

"Do you know how many pictures have been taken of me holding children in the last three years?" he asked Woodruff. "It happens all the time."

And just because Pony Boy has soooo much empathy for the innocent spouses and children who are drug through the wringer of public humiliation, he figured he’d drag Carol McCain and her children through it again. What a sack he is!

Right you are. A caller on one of the afternoon conservative radio talk shows brought up Eisenhower, and George HW Bush. Alinskyism in action.

You know, the first name which comes to mind regarding serial adultery is not McCain, or Vitter, or Livingston, or other republican who have a history.....It is Bill Clinton,

i first think of John F. Kennedy... isn't it funny how Edwards thought of McCain and not Clinton nor Kennedy... not only JFK, but Robert Kennedy, Ted Kennedy and even daddy Joe Kennedy...

We’re watching a man fall apart....Up until I heard him drop McCain’s name I felt sorry for him...I was talking about it on another thread. But making trying to make political hay of it? INSANE...Psychotic and very, very sad. Edwards has had a very bad couple of years...after years of a golden life, it seems all is falling apart. He’s not handling it too well.

Well it looks like all your worries about John McCain using the Edwards story were for naught. Check what the Breck Girl said on ABC last night:

Oh, how I would enjoy taking this worthless little shit on an educational trip behind the barn.

Next he will be blaming his sick wife.

During his attempt to become President of the United States (tell me how we got here) most of us knew what a lightweight he is, but we didn't expect him to pull a Clinton. But in an inept and stumblebum way, he did.

What a worthless, stupid little bum.

Lower than low. More proof that Dims do not take responsibility for their actions.

Someone posted this on another thread:

Edwards’s take on the Lewinsky scandal from 1999:

“I think this President has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen.”

Just wait the leftist media is just beginning. They are going to try to turn this in to a dredge up McCain’s divorce. Pretty soon we won’t even hear about Edwards at all. I just hope McCain is ready to fire back. This isn’t playing for marbles people. If you think the Media’s obscene love affair with Obama is sick then just wait till you see them tear into McCain. It will backfire but the left doesn’t understand that. Any means to an end is their motto.

You mean McCain was an adulterer too? If so, can we support such a man?

And the National Enquirer says it;s not over. They are going after whose paying the money. I’d say Edwards is at the bottom of this. Yet more shame that rains down on him.

"They are going to try to turn this in to a dredge up McCain’s divorce."

I don't think they want to go down that road. Some will, but the Democrat leadership won't because they know it will damage their party.

I don’t know...kicking a man when he’s down...although I know it’s going to happen, I still cringe.

But no mention of Clinton, Johnson, Kennedy, or Roosevelt. Just the Republican. He does know that Larry Flint won't report his.
