John Edwards’ ludicrous denials of an extramarital affair crumbled on Friday when ABC News applied enough pressure to get Edwards to agree to an interview – and an admission – finally giving the story first reported in the National Enquirer legitimacy in the eyes of the mainstream media.
The flood gates opened early Friday afternoon when Brian Ross and producer Rhonda Schwartz posted a story on ABCNews.com stating that Edwards had admitted to an affair with Rielle Hunter, a videographer who was paid in excess of $100,000 by the Edwards campaign to make a few short web videos.
The Enquirer reported last week that Hunter told a friend that Edwards was the father of her 5 ½ month old child. Edwards continues to insist that he is not the father, though he has not taken a paternity test.
The ABC News story was picked up by the cable news networks and the endless media loop began.

The news media is supposed to play the Democrats’ game.
My guess is that Edwards’ fellow Democrats will tell him to pipe down. It’s an election year, and the Dems don’t want to damage their symbiotic relationship with the press.
I guess he goes back to ambulance chasing.
What’s Gary Hart been doinglately? If he’s still on this earth, he would be the template for Edwards. Come to think of it, if he’s no longer with us...

Maybe he knows that because he talked to the baby, after it was first conceived, much like he talks to the dead, during court sessions.
I think the Clintons are behind this. Like Drudge was stating a few days ago on his site: “What is she up to?”
ABC has gotten better imo. They broke open the Wright story and we all remember the debate in Philly.
Not as high profile ambulance chasing, most likely, after the chics come home to roost.
Edwards furious with ABC News
So what is he going to do throw his purse at the camera?
He has always controlled his environment...depositions, the courts, past interviews, speeches. Now, having miscalculated (another mistake) he fecklessly directs fury at anyone but the culprit of this illconceived sordid affair (Travis Tritts' famous quote) because he can no longer control the lust of the beast which must be fed. He will not come to terms with himself. The lawyer who won so many cases and so much money, who imbued in him the very narcicism which got him into this fix, has such a throathold on him that he will lash out at anyone who causes him discomfort. Humility and truth will extricate him, and the pieces of his and his familys' lives, to begin to assymble some type of normalcy to their lives. I think he is still in Level One - Denial (Bucket List). Pride has surely come before this fall.
Edwards is furious at ABC News?
What a load o’ crap. If he was going to be furious about anything, he ought to be furious at his male reproductive member, that apparently has a mind of it’s own, a mind which is far more persuasive than the mind allegedly residing between Edwards’ ears.
Edwards needs to remember that old saying about ‘when you find yourself in a ‘ho, quit digging!’

Edwards is livid since ABC is supposed to do EXACTLY what a slimy leading Democrat TELLS them to do. ABC veered 0.01% from the manipulative carefully crafted detailed instructions from the Silky Pony.
Oh, the outrage!
Who cares who you’re mad at Edwards? There’s a war going on, and the more we can rid our country of ethically deficient government leaders such as yourself, the better.
Making Edwards an unacceptable alternative when she drops the bomb (if she has it) on Obama and ruins his run for the nomination. She needs to hurry.
I love it when the Dems form a circular firing squad. They have obviously learned this from the Republicans.
