TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Bowl might be six months away from coming to town, but the celebrity rumors already are running rampant.

The New York Post's Page Six reported on Tuesday that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform live at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium.

Amanda Holt, the director of communications for the local Super Bowl Committee, said this is the first she has heard of it.

The NFL is boycott proof. They tried to get one going when the Rolling Stones performed a few years ago.

Perform what?

Springsteen has been irrelevant since 1987.

They maybe boycott proof but they're not damage proof. Knock 10% from viewing and it hurts not just NFL but the $2 million advertisers.

Maybe he will remember what town he is in unlike the night I saw him back in about 1984.

Couldn’t they get Janet Jackson? I hear she promised to wear a top without doors that could pop open.

Remember one year Michael Jackson was the halftime entertainment?

I don't think he really personifies the testosterone image of the NFL. Now, if it was soccer match...

Too bad Tom Petty just did it.

“Bruce is sooooo 80’s.”

Actually, so ‘70’s.

God pulled the creative gift after the magnificence of

-Greetings from Asbury Park New Jersey
-The Wild, The Innocent and E Street Shuffle
-Born to Run (a true masterpiece)
-Darkness on the Edge of Town

I have enjoyed the music of everyone from Bill Haley and his Comets through Elvis and right up through Billy Joel and the group CHICAGO. But I NEVER could understand all the hoopla surrounding Springsteen. And who the blazes was it that pronounced him “The Boss.” That narcissistic
@-hole couldn’t even carry a tune!

I long ago concluded that if I could have in monetary terms, the DIFFERENCE between what Springsteen THINKS he is worth and what he’s REALLY worth, musically, I could afford to retire to Tahiti....with hot and cold running maids, even!
