Springsteen’s still alive? Who knew??

I don’t see why they couldn’t get Kanye West — now that would be a great all-American act that would inspire the NFL fans!!

“Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band”

Too highbrow for me. I’d like to see a fight-to-the-death match between Rosie O’Donnell and Ted Kennedy in a pit filled with hungry giant clams, horny roosters and rotten limburger cheese.

I don't think Ted is going to make it to January.

I remember him laughing idiotically at Oberman’s lame attempt at humor. He also bashed Rush and is a known lefty. His political views override his sports credentials, but that’s just me.

Egged??

That’d be getting off easy for a Superbowl crowd.

If he knows what’s good for him, he’ll stick to music.

If not, he’s gonna get pelted, showered, bombed, and generally hailed on by objects of every imaginable description.

On a bright note: this’d be a VERY good reason to hope the Raiders can put enough together to get there; a mouthy, politically tired Springsteen v. the Raider’s own “Black Hole” would make for a riveting halftime show.

He's from Jersey. Need anything more be said?

I can think of one entertainer from Jersey that I would like to listen to.....

Yes, I am aware he has passed on to the great casino in the sky. I would rather see/hear someone sitting at a table at halftime playing his records, than listen to Bruce Springsteen.

His political views override his sports credentials

Not on a sports show it shouldn't. It really annoyed me when all but a few of my lefty acquaintances refused to admit that Rush did good job on MNF, even before the dumb Culpepper comment. And when some of the Republican lackeys I know refused to admit that Dennis Miller was the worst thing to ever happen to football broadcasting. The way I see it is football is stressful enough to watch (myself being a Jets fan should know). I don't want politics on my mind at all when it's on.

Deal. That’s when I go make my second half set of sandwiches anyway!”

Yep, halftime is all about making pit stops and filling up.

The halftime show is largely irrelevant to me (unless the FAMU Band is playing!)

I can't boycott the Superbowl or the NFL.

One has to watch it in the first place to qualify.

Same here. I'm usually at work, to boot...

LOL! And if we got the respective municipalities to invoke a program to help get people out of gangs that included the offer of free tickets to the Superbowl, the two burgs could simultaneously cut their local crime problems in just a half hour on TV.

The event would bring a whole new world of meaning to the NFL’s trademark “Let’s get ready to rumble!”

He was a fluke -- he was to Jersey what a winning lottery ticket is to a welfare mom. His talent and charisma were so outsized that they raised the level of personality for the entire state on average, rendering everything since, a disappointment.

I missed the Pearl Jam, Nirvanna wave. I've heard a few of their songs and I guess they're ok, but I couldn't imagine them getting a crowd tapping their toes or coming out of their seats the way real rockers of the 80's would.

Think of those concert goers for the aforementioned as a group of VERY high individuals on a higher grade narcotic--mosh pit and headbanging included. That's how I would describe it.
