Especially the new A-10C, I am so glad they didn’t abandon the Warthog as Clinton’s regime had planned. Just shreds tanks... Any tank!

I would agree with you regarding Putin. Back in the day I'm certain the world could not conceive of Hitler attacking Poland since it would mean war with the British Empire and France as well. Hitler on the other hand was convinced he could win, I believe Vlad is of the same mind.

How do you know the warhead fired was 1000 lbs and how do you know that it didn’t bounce and end there? You don’t.

What I have beern wondering is why that tunnel wasn’t taken out while the Ruskies were still in it?

The Georgians never got that far, and did not have the weapons systems to reach it from where they were.
A big part of this thiung, in addition to flexing muscles, sending messages, and potnentially getting the oil, is Russia ensuring that they have that foothold and big buffer around that tunnel which allows them to sit their with a poised dagger over the Gerogian capitol.
They will move to have independence for that province, and for the other one on the coast. That one gives them an un-opposed landing place that side of the mountains on the Georgian coast and allwos them to cut the country in half.
In order to counter that, Georgia needs to be a part of NATO, the Georgian military needs serious upgrading, and there needs to be NATO or US bases in the country as a trip wire and buffer against Russian agression.

I’m not familiar with the actions that you mention, so I can’t comment.

That was a training round in the square. I.e., the warhead is replaced by a weight. They’re typically for use on firing ranges where they don’t want to tear big holes in the real estate or take chances of collateral damage if they misfire.

Firing SS-21’s (even conventional)?! No wonder Bush is pissed at Putin!
This is going to make deploying our missile defenses to Czech and Poland easy peasy, too.
This is a game-changer.

as the Georgians do not have the capability to defend against or defeat ballistic missiles.Well, I suppose the US is going to do something about that now.

You could very well be right. All the former Soviet subjects must be worrying about their futures at this point. The bear is on the move.

Why are the Georgia threads so deathly quiet now? The threads went cold several hours ago. It is daytime in Georgia now.
