A piece of paper never protected anything .. let alone a country.

Chamberlain tried it and it didn’t work then either. It’s just like I thought .. Europe couldn’t be bothered sharing in the hard task of cleaning up Iraq or Afghanistan .. but when the fight comes to their own back yard .. WHO YA GONNA CALL .. HUH!!

We’re good enough to fight their battles for them after they are too stinking lazy to develop their own defenses .. but then they have the gall to stand in the halls of the UN and badmouth America .. they should be ashamed .. but I know they’re not. They’re just stupid liberals.

Tonight I heard one statement from Obama which made my blood boil - in his response to “Does evil exist?” .. he said - ON THE STREETS OF AMERICA - as always we’re the bad guys .. but we’re good enough to spend the precious blood of our best and brightest for THEIR cause.

They can all go to hell!! I’ve had it !!

The Russsians have already signed a UN declaration of sovereignty of Georgia.....and they did not honor that piece of paper. Put them in NATO along with Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuwania, and all of the Balkan states. Russia is the bully on the block. They always have been. This will not change. They need to be left in the 19th century. Stop all trade with them or ressurrect General Patton.

Interesting analysis of the Putin/Bush dialogues. I would have to agree with you again on this. As for the the presser from the CIA...I didn’t see it. When did this take place? Do you have a link to it?

Idiotic. And all this geo-strategic wisdom from people who don’t know the difference between the words “lose” and “loose.”

LOL

Militarily, there is lots we can do, so drop that lie.
Someone said there is wisdom in knowing when not to fight. There is also wisdom in knowing when to fight.

Russian control of Georgia is bad news. Period. Their presence is unacceptable to America, Europe, Asia, and the rest of the world. So, Russia is mostly alone in enjoying their deceit. Plus, the pressure to get them OUT of Georgia will only grow.

So, the real wisdom will be in the Russian leaders recognizing that it is in their better interests to leave Georgia sooner rather than later. To be forced out in a manner not unlike Afghanistan is an embarassment to be avoided. So, Putin, pull out now while the pulling out is good.

You’re right. But Bush has said Russian presence in Georgia is unacceptable. The fact is, a lot of the back-and-forth here on FR is following from MSM reports that are deliberately portraying the US response as weak and tepid. Why do none here find that interesting in itself?

The MSM spent YEARS painting Bush as a hawkish cowboy but now they feel compelled to paint him as wormy and weak. Why do you spose that is?

We have not yet used our greatest weapon...Wall St. It is time to let the Rooskies know who holds all the cards in this poker game. It is time to get every American bank, mutual fund, insurance company, foundation and every other institution to start selling every Russian stock that we own. Choke the Rooskies in billions of overnight losses and convince the Europeans to do the same. Let the Rooskies know that if you want to be a bully, there is not a single place on earth outside of Russia to park your rubles!

No Link, I saw it on Fox. There may be a U-tube or Fox film on the Internet, but I don't frequent those sites.

I came away from it feeling like they lost some assets somewhere and it was a sad day for them.

Our military response strategy has been one of graduated escalation. This is still a State Department op at this point with military assist. Things will change when necessary as I see it. Also, you can bet we have some covert stuff running now, and have had it for some time.

The Israelis also have a significant presence in Georgia. Over the long haul, I don’t think it would be all that difficult to turn Georgia into another Chechnya or Afghanistan for the Russians. Is one pipeline worth that much to them?

I think it’s more about the U.S. then the pipeline. They want all the dominos to fall and for us to go home. With the vastly increased influence, then they can have the pipe.

Unfortunately, it has been a sad situation for many. Georgia is a wonderful little country and I have found myself praying for their protection several times lately. Thanks for all of your input. I have found it very interesting as it has made me consider the situation from some different perspectives.

“By that time we should however all be walking around the streets in our old clothes, penniless, looking for work. Which isn’t too far from where we stand today under 8 years of GW.”

I’m making more money than ever...my brother-in-law is doing fine with his staff/workers of 150, and we all have plenty of clothes are on back.

What world do you live in?
