HARROLD, Texas A tiny Texas school district may be the first in the nation to allow teachers and staff to pack guns for protection when classes begin later this month, a newspaper reported.
AP story so you'll have to link to it for the rest.

Ping for later.
Just don’t get caught carrying cigarettes. Otherwise...
Guns 'n guitars, baby!
In keeping with the unofficial Texas state motto - ‘’Be friendly or we’ll kill you.’’
I like it. Teachers should have the option to be armed (6 year old students, not quite so much - in class, anyway).
For other school districts that oppose firearms, however, they should at least permit non-lethal self-defense for teachers such as bean-bag guns, stun guns, stun grenades, pepper spray, and dogs.
Teachers are capable of being one line out of many in our defenses against terror and crimes that would otherwise be aimed at our children in school, so having all of them remain unarmed just begs for repeats of Columbine and Virginia Tech.
As a proud Texan, I hope this is just the first in a long line of school districts that allow the teachers to be armed. It’s time to turn “gun free zones” into “safe zones”.
Well do you feel lucky punk?
Don’t mess with the bull. You’ll get the horns.
I wish they would annex WA! Can I declare my property to be
an honorary part of Texas?
As liberals flee the economic basket cases they caused for greener pastures, lets hope that headlines like this will make them think twice about moving to Texas.
We don't need any more stinking liberals (redundant).
As far as I’m concerned, yes.... if you think like us, you’re welcome to join us. ;^)
Texas carry ping!
I’ve got a flagpole all I need is the flag!
Be prepared to be called a redneck, a hick, and/or a racist.... assumptions by the liberal scum about all Southerners but Texans in general.
I partook of all the usual Texas stereotypes until I actually moved there and lived there (Gainesville, Cooke Co)for awhile.
More good hearted down to earth folk do not exist. Thats
true for most of the rural midwest as well.
Now that I find myself in the recently re-logoed King
(MLK type) Co I find I miss my former neighbors more.
“Johnnie, sit down! If you had any brains, I’d blow them out!”
Superintendent David Thweatt said the small community is a 30-minute drive from the sheriff’s office, leaving students and teachers without protection. He said the district’s lone campus sits 500 feet from heavily trafficked U.S. 287, which could make it a target.
“When the federal government started making schools gun-free zones, that’s when all of these shootings started. Why would you put it out there that a group of people can’t defend themselves? That’s like saying ‘sic ‘em’ to a dog,” Thweatt said in Friday’s online edition of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Police are minutes away when seconds count. BTTT (Bump to the top)
Not against it from a 2A point of view ... but if I had a child in a school where the teachers felt the need to carry a gun to school, I’d yank them.
If a schools’ students are that dangerous, just close the damn school down.
The decent parents will make other arrangements. The others will carry on as before.
