A Majority Minority Nation ( Mexifornia = Germconsin)
Townhall.com ^ | August 15, 2008 | Linda Chavez

A majority minority nation: that's what the U.S. Census Bureau is projecting by the year 2042, according to new figures released this week. By mid-century, according to the government's projections, Hispanics, Asians and blacks will outnumber non-Hispanic whites by about 32 million. The statistics make for interesting headlines -- and, no doubt, cause heartburn in certain circles -- but the fact is: they are more or less meaningless. The problem in all such predictions is that they don't take sufficient account of intermarriage and assimilation.

From our founding as a nation, there have been those who worried that "foreigners" would overwhelm us and change our national character. Benjamin Franklin warned in 1751: "Why should Pennsylvania, founded by the English, become a Colony of Aliens, who will shortly be so numerous as to Germanize us instead of our Anglifying them?"

"I get the sense that pride is what is lacking today."

In a sense you're right, but in a sense you're wrong. There is a great deal of pride where there ought to be none. In some areas of Boston, there are all sorts of flags on bumpers, windows, houses, and rear view windows in neighborhoods where they are too lazy to pick up the swill in the curb in front of their homes. This reflects where they came from. They are proud to be from a bastion of poverty, bastard children, laziness, ignorance and voting the straight democrat ticket. Where I am from, this continues and only gets worse.

Another example is the gay pride folks. They're proud of their sodomy, apparently. I am not sure that these people are ever going to grow out of this culture. Look at the delta regions in Mississippi and Louisiana (the heavy Gore voting areas) for demographic trends hundreds of years old and approaching third world standards.

Linda Chavez, who seems to never have lost her own loyalty to Mexico, is purposely ignoring quite a few facts.
1) It took generations for assimilation to occur, degrading our national unity. Ethnic enclaves in the past are failures, not goals for the futures.
2) Assimilation occurred because the majority demanded it and because we followed a generation of high immigration with one of severely restricted one. That is our pattern.
3) Are Germans really the group she wants to bring up? German-amerin can support for Germany in World War 1 and before World War 2 was very real and a big problem.
4) I seem to remember unassimilated foreigners and their under assimilated children being the base of the Democrat party and of urban machines. Is this really what we want?

Funny, isn’t it? Linda Chavez is a wonderful conservative in all respects until it comes to something with a Spanish surname, and then she falls apart, loses all ability to think logically, and becomes a 100% emotional creature.

I have a Hispanic name, also, with a family that has been here for many generations, and no connection to Mexico, yet I have not once in my life had a single bleeding heart sentiment like Ms Chavez.

I married a lovely gal with a Scottish background. Her cousins all got together a few years later at an event, and I met the aunts and uncles who hadn’t come to our wedding. I danced with one of the aunts, an addle-brained liberal who thought the family was “celebrating diversity” because her niece had married me — like I was a bloody prize, or a Martian.

While we danced, the aunt first tried out a couple of words of Spanish, then when she realized I didn’t have an accent and wasn’t bilingual, she said sympathetically, “Isn’t it awful that all the menial help here is Mexican? I expect you sympathize with their plight?” She was oozing, looking for an agreeable response from me.

My response? “They’re here illegally and the whole lot of them would be shipped back tonight if I was in charge!” She was stunned.

No one in this large extended family ever mistook me for a bleeding heart, or anything other than a rock-hard conservative. It’s now twenty years later.

I've been "other" for many years, although those nosy Parkers at the census bureau would categorize me as "white."

Don't get me started on how white South Americans (often of German, Italian, and other European ancestries) are classified as "minorities", while those from North Africa and the Middle East are classified as "white." My Egyptian ex-GF would always complain about this, and would also put "other" because she never "felt white" culturally or otherwise.

France and Mexico have it right: BAN the collecting of racial data by the census bureau. This whole process started with the racists, and then eugenicists, but is now most supported by the ethnic grievance lobbies.

Actually, there was a point to worrying about Germans in PA and WI. The 1850’s immigration from the revolutions in Europe brought us many of the folks who formed the backbone of the Progressive (i.e. fascist/socialist) Party in the Midwest. Bring in enough immigrants who think our Founding Fathers had it all wrong with their emphasis on individual liberty, and they will have been proved wrong, in that individual liberty will become something seen as unworkable, and will disappear.

Ethnic enclaves in the past are failures, not goals for the futures.

My own parents saw the ethnic ghettos they grew up in as something to GET AWAY FROM, an idea also pushed by their parents. It sickens me when I see people from the left and right (the latter being largely Catholic intellectuals who seem to think ethnocentric neighborhoods are good for parish building) idealizing separatist enclaves.

The goal for Americans (and wannabe Americans) should be to encourage upward mobility among their children, adoption of the English language and pushing their children to get themselves out of the ethnic/immigrant ghetto as soon as possible.

“As one who comes from an amalgamation of four differing nationalities (Polish, Irish, Slovak, and Russian) I know that Americans are a very diverse bunch.”

Got ya beat! I'm Scots, Irish, English, Dutch, French, Russian, German, Austrian, Lithuanian, and Spanish, that I know of. Seems to me Grandma had a couple more in there, but I've forgotten them...

Heinz, and 57 other varieties, as we put it. True Americans, AKA, mutts.

If they’re girls, I’m also betting they’re drop dead beautiful, too.
