No. But how do YOU know which family is best for the child without knowing anything about them except what one prejudiced party has said about both? You don't...which means you either don't care about what's really best for this child or you didn't really think your argument through very well.

The story also states that the boy’s parents gave this girl shelter in their own home so she could escape the brutal stepfather. They sound pretty decent to me.

But he didn’t want the divorce. Why should he have no say in the life of his child just because of a divorce between parents? The guy didn’t divorce his kid. His wife divorced her husband.
I have seen people - including kids - ruined by divorce. It hasn’t happened to you. Be glad. I hope that doesn’t change. But it might.
