Obama's pay grade
8/18/08 | moi

Posted on 08/18/2008 5:25:50 AM PDT by Tribune7

I was reading some of the Saddleback blogs and there seemed to be a perception by some that Obama was asked "When does life begin?" when he responded with: "I think that whether you are looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade."

He wasn't.

He was asked "At what point does a baby get human rights?"

And he thinks that's above his "pay grade"

Now just image a garbage man, or a dishwasher or an illegal alien landscaper, finding a baby by himself in the street and not having some sort of understanding about the answer to that question.

Would you want Obama as your babysitter? How can anybody think he would be competent as president?

Obama should have simply been asked how much do you have to be paid to have an opinion.

Here’s what I think about that question.

Obama knew there would be a question on abortion and had been told by his handlers to answer as if he were too humble to answer such a question as “When does life
begin”, because that is blurry and he is not God and blah blah blah.
But he was asked a LEGAL question about LEGAL rights and he just went with what he knew to say. And this from a Harvard Law Professor.

So I ask has anyone in this man’s career held him accountable or has he just skated by on being “international” all his life?

Also a good point.

If McCain's people are smart, they'll pound Obammy with the “above my pay grade” remark till everyone in the country knows it from memory.

I didn’t see it that way.

I saw a person being asked his personal beliefs as to “when does life begin”, and when he demurred with “above my paygrade”, he either.....

1 doesn’t know, or
2 is too afraid to answer

Assuming he meant #1, then he doesn’t know himself.

A person who doesn’t know himself is ill-qualified to lead others.

Yet he wants the job typically considered the highest “pay grade” in the world.

I think he just told us he’s not qualified for it.

But he wasn't asked when life begins.

He was asked "At what point does a baby get human rights?" And he said he was incapable of addressing it. And this guy wants to be president.

I do not think he was ever a Harvard Law Professor.

He went to Harvard Law School, but he “taught” at some law school in Illinois, I think.

I might be wrong on this.

Regardless, your point is well taken. A “Law Talking Guy” SHOULD be able to answer a legal question.

I think he should have been asked whether he would have given his 17 year old mother the same advice as he says he would give his daughters, that is not to allow herself to be punished with a baby.

Why won’t he just be honest?...

“I don’t know. And frankly, I don’t really care. Besides, what difference does it make anyway? They need to die either way.”

Above his pay grade? What a weaselly coward.

Your answer can be found in affirmative action, and the fact that if a black is running for elected office the hypenated black voter will invariably vote for color over substance.

That way they don't have to think.

I’d hate to be behind him in the checkout at the supermarket (like he would ever go...)

“Mr. Obama, Paper or Plastic?”

At least Pelosi would have answered, "When it votes the straight "inclusive" Democrat ticket.

BTW - Uh-Bama's latest TV spot boasts that he will "Bring a responsible end to the war in Iraq."

Which led me to play this game:

When you draw a line down the middle of a page and label one side "Dazzle" as in 'Dazzle Them with Brilliance' and the other side "Baffle" as in 'Baffle them with Bull$hit'; the Dazzle side for Uh-bama is very thin.

OR

Label one side Capitalism and the other side Socialism you get the same results.

Oh, I may have gotten his credentials jumbled up.

Either way, a Harvard Law Graduate should be able to answer a legal rights question without blinking. Even if it isn’t agreed with, he should still be able to form an opinion.

You are correct, and I as confusing Obama’s question.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRZX_ndZN-g&feature=related

It was McCain who was asked the question in those words, however Obama was asked, “”At what point does a baby get human rights, in YOUR view?”

That is a question of belief, not law.

Please! This is the kind of inaccurate response that makes me scream. He was never a law professor and especially not at Harvard. If you can't get basic facts straight, you really should not be posting here. That's my opinion -- no one else's. I hate to see FR abused.

You are correct. According to the NYT he was offered a tenured professorship at the University of Chicago (based on NO published articles, quite amazing actually) but he turned it down to pursue politics.

Well, I most humbly apologize for “abusing” FR with my innaccurate post.

Sheesh.
