Why are liberals so gullible?
American Thinker ^ | 25 aug 08 | James Lewis

The Democratic National Convention is a great time to reflect on the Conundrum of The Century: Why are our liberal buddies so amazingly gullible? Why do they fall for the most obvious scam artists? Why, when Hillary crashes, do they slobber all over the next edition of God's Anointed on Earth?

When Obama went body surfin' in Hawaii before the convention, we had a chance to hear The Aloha State's very own brand of liberal love. The Honolulu Star-Bulletin quoted one sun-tanned beauty saying:

"He's genuine.

These are people who believe in Gramscian socialism; of course they are gullible. There is abundant evidence that market capitalism is the single vehicle for making the most people wealthy and socialism simply distributes poverty equally.

But not if it's "done right". I have a cousin who will rail against her co-workers for letting her do all the work, for being lazy and sloppy with their projects. But somehow she still thinks that some communal nonsense will change that type of person.

Why are liberals so gullible?

People who believe in nothing will fall for anything.

The author has got it right when he says that liberalism is an elite few gulling the useful idiots.

I think he is wrong in his remedy which is, debate, debate, debate. Before you can have the salubrious effects of open debate you must have an open mind. The out workings of The Frankfurt School over two generations in America have made it all but impossible for our leftist educated gullables to even hear or see the merits in honest debate. There are none so blind as will not see.

So I think the real anecdote is one used so effectively by Rush Limbaugh: satire!

When folks begin to see that they are foolish, rather than unwise, they will heave overboard the gauzy rationalizations which sustain Obama-Marxism.

It's no so much that they're gullible - they believe in what they believe in, regardless of the evidence of contradictory facts. Cognitive dissonance...

I don't think they are gullible as they are intellectually lazy. They are willing to let other think for them. The MSM helps by only presenting one side of the argument. They sit around and are too lazy to investigate the other side remaining perfectly willing to believe what they see and hear.

Public Education pas a big part of it.

It has become little more than a social indoctrination program. Critical thinking is not taught to the degree should be.

It’s our own fault. We let it happen.

I like this part:

Obama by Otto Veblin

When you see Obama's next Nuremberg Rally with his nose in the air, take it as a sign of things to come.  He really does despise us, you know. But he feels sorry for us, too, because he knows better. Contempt and pity go hand in hand. Maybe the liberal masses just love being pitied. Maybe they just accept being weak, helpless, and not too bright. Good grief.

I’m not sure I can buy into the liberal-as-dupe theory. They know what they want-big government socialism, and if they elect Obama, I agree with them, he will give them what they want.

they (libs) are intellectually lazy.

I am of the belief that liberals are divided into two groups.

One group is dissatisfied with their financial lives. (class envy)

Whether rich or poor, they are jealous that someone has more than them, and instead of looking inward, they demand that the government punish the successful because they are convinced everyone is cheating... or whatever nonsense.

The second segment has a deep-seated dislike/hatred toward the Judeo=Christian morals which have guided our great country the past 225 years.

They feel soooo guilty at their own 'rule-breaking' & depravity, that they try and eliminate all politicians who promote upstanding, clean living (for lack of a better description).

That is why so many young people vote Democrat, because lets' face it, we tend to act out sexually & socially when we are young... and then return to our parents' morality as we grow older. (that's what I did, sort of)

Why? Because liberals emote rather than think.

Obama offered Democrats a viable choice to the Clintons, whom many wanted to be rid of once and for all.

Libs are stupid and have unrealistic idealism for group think because they were the ones that either didn't study and couldn't figure out why their grades sucked.

They didn't get into the private sector cause they couldn't "do" anything of value so they became teachers, reporters, social workers and government employees... or they were the dorks, ugly chicks, whimpy effeminate guys and people with sociopathic tendencies that need power in order to feel good about some slight or trauma in childhood.

If you talk to a lib, you get the sense of a chihuahua or a nervous hamster just waiting for something to happen as opposed to making things happen. . If you talk to a conservative, not so much.

If they raise taxes on successful and give free health care to those unsuccessful then they will need a way of keeping the successful from retiring , because free health care is , like the latest round of stimulus welfare checks, an incentive to do less to get more.

Why are liberals so gullible?

Because they are, as a group, very child-like.

The primary reason for this is the abject failure of the public school system to instill any desire for critical thinking, paired with its failure to teach and celebrate our form of government.

Secondary is the desire of most people to do nothing and get paid for it (on someone else's back). This is part of being a child (children, after all, just ask Mommie & Daddy for money, or get an allowance, instead of working for it), and partly due to the lack of simple education regarding economics.

I have little but contempt for these people. I suppose that it is OK to be a bit juvenile into your mid-20s or so, until you get a job and get married and have kids. However, at that point it is time to grow up - but many people simple refuse, as that might take effort, particularly mental effort. They're just a bunch of overgrown children.
