The White House needs to totally reverse course on its unilateral disarmament "strategy".
Bring back the MX missiles and Tridents, and the B-1B fleet.
Ramp up a new B-2 production.
And keep deploying F-22s and C-17s rather than shutting down....and restore the 600 ship Navy.

America is different now, Med.
We don't care if you become a Commie again. WE love Commies, we love China. Just as long as you export cheap products to us and loan us money.

Maybe another Cold War is what is needed to end America's increasing flirtations with dangerous & divisive leftwing lunatic ideologies.
Too bad it takes threat/s from outside to set our priorities straight when simple common sense should suffice.

And why are they not afraid of a new cold war? Because of global warming, of course! Bush’s Fault!

Which reminds me, has anyone asked BO what course of action should be taken with the Russians regarding this?

The Ruskis think they can strangle Europe by cutting off oil and gas, and they can. However, should that occur, the Russian supply of oil and Gas from the East can be cut. Winter in Moskva with no heating. Brrrrr.

yes they can but this is a double edged sword. since they can´t eat their oil and gas they need the money from selling it. i don´t think europe gets russian oil and gas just out of goodwill. they need our money as much as we need their gas.

The Ruskies now have enough money. We are now likely to fight a war having paid for our enemies weapons. What a big mistake in Statesmanship, ever to trust the oil producers. When they started their oil blackmail, we should have told them quite simply, to play fair, otherwise we take away their toys.

Oil is a fungible commodity. They could just as easily sell their petroleum to the oil-hungry Chinese.

true but you have to build new pipelines, oil tankers.... to do that. you cannot do this within a month or so. the same could be said about europe. europe does not stand or fall because of russian oil or gas. we could import more from other countries too if needed (the problem is most of them are lovely hellholes like iran). (shure this would take some time too). the big question is do both sides really want this? i´m not shure on this one. but i guess in the long time it would hurt russia more than it would hurt the EU for example. you don´t really want an economic war with EU GDP (purchasing power parity):
$14.38 trillion (2007 est.)
GDP (official exchange rate):
$16.62 trillion (2007 est.)
when your own russian gdp is only
GDP (purchasing power parity):
$2.088 trillion (2007 est.)
GDP (official exchange rate):
$1.286 trillion (2007 est.)
you would lose it the long way

Sadly the russians would just role over europe with its military if you all ever did that to them. The EU combined could not stop them. The US is the only ones that could help you then.
