Senior Democratic officials are expressing serious concerns about the political risks posed by Barack Obamas acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium Thursday evening.
From the elaborate stagecraft to the teeming crowd of 80,000 cheering partisans, the vagaries of the weather to the unpredictable audience reaction, the optics surrounding the stadium event have heightened worries that the Obama campaign is engaging in a high-risk endeavor in an uncontrollable environment.
A common concern: that the stadium appearance plays against Obamas convention goal of lowering his star wattage and connecting with average Americans and that it gives Republicans a chance to drive home their message that the Democratic nominee is a narcissistic celebrity candidate.

Its likely that the campaign would do it differently if it had to do it again because the decision was made before the European trip, said a senior Democratic elected officeholder who has worked closely with the Obama campaign.

They will drape flags all over the place and incorporate MLK’s image somewhere in the ceremonies.

There are going to be a whole lotta ticked off football fans here tonight.
WTF are they saying GWB also had some sort of columns in 2004? He was the POTUS!!!!!!
LOL...can you say “Wellstone Funeral”? I knew you could.
Also I think we should’ve kept quiet about it, let Obama do his thing them hit him afterwards. Now they might try to tone it down somehow....
After seeing his poll numbers, some delegates are calling him Obummer.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Live, from the Plastic Parthenon, it’s the Anointed One, Barack Hussein Obama!
Blue collar thinkin:
If B. H. Obama ain’t: white, black, muslim, christian, rich or poor and doesn’t have a valid US birth cert., what is the world is he?
“LOL...can you say Wellstone Funeral? I knew you could.”
I called that the “Wellstone death rally”.
This speech would be better if everyone in the audience would wear the same uniforms. And they need lots of torches. And Obama should speak forcefully for four hours...
Every candidate tries to invoke some attitude or great setting when they have an audience to rally, sway or hang on to. What’s truly disconcerting is the heavy-handedness of Sen. Obama’s attempt. Surely he must understand the multitude of interpretations such a colonnade would beget — or is he so single-minded that he has damped the echoes of Nuremberg? Worse yet, as in Berlin, does he really believe he has earned the backdrop that he has created for himself?
Either way, we should be concerned about this man’s perceptions and about his continued lack of even the appearance of humility despite repeated whispers from the soothsayers.
Too much third reich imagery - especially at night.
Too much stereotypical black underclass “bling” mentality.
“the vagaries of the weather to the unpredictable audience reaction,”
The mob will start chanting “Toga! Toga! Toga!” when His Messiahhood takes the pseudo-classical stage?
