Not that this is scientific, but the poll on Drudge for Obama’s VP had Biden leading the whole time.

Yeah, because that was a good pic. /s

Mitt would be great for our economy.

How?

I hear all these assertions with NO data to back them up.

Elected officials are “given” security passes just because they're in office. That's regardless of whether they could have earned such a clearance if they weren't politicians. That's just the way things are.

Wrong person. Wrong jurisdiction. You're talking about a Congresswoman, not an Alaska official.

Yes, someone already set me straight thank-you.

I have been doing some reading up on Sarah Palin this morning (trying to get up to speed), and could not be more thrilled with John McCain’s pick.

Excellent choice!

I know, John.....you explained that to me before and I appreciate your candor explaining it. Just wanted you to point that out to others; a position that we've had to work for, a test we had to pass....not one granted by winning a political campaign.

Thanks John!

In my world badges alone were NEVER enough.

We required what is called a "third party" introduction. That is, a person, personally known to you and for whom you knew their access, had to introduce a new person and tell you what compartments and sub-compartments that person was read in for. You were then allowed to do a "third party" introduction to others.

For example, consider a large multinational project "Shark." Everyone working on Shark would be read in to that compartment. Suppose that there were certain aspects of project Shark that would reveal capabilities of national assets, identities of covert operatives, etc. and how they related to project Shark. The knowledge of this information would be reserved for sub-compartments Mako, Thresher, & Hammerhead to make up three examples.

I might be read in for Shark, Mako, and Hammerhead but not Thresher while a foreign coworker might only be read in for Shark.

The existence of some projects are only disclosed to the two ranking members of the oversight committees and only in person, verbally, and without staff. If they want to read or see more information they can physically visit the agency responsible for the project.

I do not care for the granting of automatic clearances to elected officials but they are our political masters and exist in their service and the service of the nation that elected them.

Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!

Amen. First the vetting, then the clearance and then you get to work in need to know compartments.
