A headline like that may seem inocuous enough, but amid the fevered speculation about whom John McCain will select as a vice presidential running mate, maybe its a tea leaf. Or maybe not.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, in Denver as an unofficial Republican observer during the Democratic National Convention, has canceled several TV interviews that were scheduled for this afternoon, said a Republican spokesman.

He is also pro-life.
Both Powlenty and Romney are good choices : conservatives, prolife and electorally interesting (Minnesota or Michigan).
Real concern and anger would rise if McCain choses another guy.
the choice for VP has been and will be Tim Pawlenty.
McCain will not do the same? He won’t throw Hillary under the bus?..........

Leaving early for Labor Day weekend?
Why is FR slower than Christmas lately??
LOL
NOOOOOOOOooooooo
I don’t see Romney being a big plus in Michigan. When was his daddy the Governor there? 32 years ago? Most voters probably don’t care any more.
I like Pawlenty, plenty.
Tim Pawlenty, let’s hope he’s not in charge of bridge inspections.
I heard Pawlenty six months ago and asked people in MN about him then and all came back pleased with him and how hard he worked in MN campaigning.
He works for me. Right now I just want the announcement to come and suspense ended.
I should come clean and note that I won’t be doing any media interviews this afternoon. I’ve also cleared my schedule and I’m not saying why.
The McCain Campaign is showing surprising political skills lately. Can you believe all of the smokescreens and mirrors around this decision?
Someone in his campaign understands intelligence and counter-intelligence. Someone is a game theory expert. This bodes well for October.
I don't understand what you mean by this.
Romney won millions of votes too...
I knew it!!!
McCain/ElkGroveDan ‘08
Pawlenty barely won re-election in 2006 in a three person race. Had Hutchinson, a former DFLer, not been in the race then Pawlenty probably would have lost. He may not carry Minnesota for McCain, and certainly won't help in any other state. If Pawlenty is selected, it'll be solely because he's the least offensive choice. Hardly a ringing endorsement, but past vice presidents have been chosen for worse reasons.
Explain this please. What do you mean by growing in office?
I really dislike Pawlenty’s global warming leanings. I wouldn’t be terribly upset if he got the nod but it would really, really seem like McCain missed an opportunity.
