Secret Service Denies Romney Security Sweep
Roll Call ^ | August 28, 2008, 4:07 p.m. | By David M. Drucker

Posted on 08/28/2008 4:31:51 PM PDT by Perdogg

The Secret Service is denying that it conducted a security sweep of the Michigan home belonging to the sister of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R).

Roll Call earlier reported that the sweep took place, suggesting that it might be an indication that Romney was in line to be selected as Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) vice presidential running mate.

I’d rather have Rudy as VP than Romney. At least he’s honest about what he stands for.

In any case our VP will not have had balls enough to serve in uniform. That’s one big plus for our nominee.

McCain/Thompson would be the Geritol ticket. I like Hunter personally, I voted for him and sent money to him and I think as an individual he is terrific. It would certainly knock the socks off the pundits if McCain chose him. As an aside, what a great ticket to have two guys with three young Marines to their credit.

Gaaaaaah!

This is killing me!

I don’t have much money, but I’ve got $50 ready to send if it’s Mitt.

“I am not sure Fred would be interested.”

Fred had said previously that he was not interested and also said he did not believe he would be asked.

It would be a lovely surprise if McCain told Fred he needed him to serve and got Fred to change his mine. I would be very pleased. My second choice, Mitt Romney.

I don’t object - although I’m not sure I see her filling the role of Prez.

Dude - just come on over to the Romney zone!

Palin as VP pick would be a real curveball for Obama.

This is why. Romney wants to subvert not only the GOP but also the entire conservative movement.
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2006/12/romneys_thought.html

On why the gay community should support Romney over Kennedy, given Kennedy’s record of supporting both civil rights and the gay community:

“Well, I think you’re partially right in characterizing Ted Kennedy as supportive of the gay community, and I respect the work and efforts he’s made on behalf of the gay community and for civil rights more generally, and I would continue that fight.

“There’s something to be said for having a Republican who supports civil rights in this broader context, including sexual orientation. When Ted Kennedy speaks on gay rights, he’s seen as an extremist. When Mitt Romney speaks on gay rights he’s seen as a centrist and a moderate. It’s a little like if Eugene McCarthy was arguing in favor of recognizing China, people would have called him a nut. But when Richard Nixon does it, it becomes reasonable. When Ted says it, it’s extreme; when I say it, it’s mainstream.

A quick review of Pawlenty...he looks like the better choice. I don’t know anything about him, but he appears to have better conservative creds (I could be wrong...someone give me the details good and bad).

I’d rather have Romney on the top instead of McCain, but McCain can’t tick off the Christians by putting a mormon on the ticket. Like it not Evangelicals won’t vote for a mormon...they believe mormons are satan worshipers (not literaly but they are praying to false a false god).

I think they would vote for a mormon...if he was truly pro-life, pro-gun and against alternative lifestyles.

A woman would probably guarantee a victory, but what woman should he pick (assuming he’s dead set to get a woman as the VP)?

Also remember his VP has a good chance of being president since he’s very old. Also would that hurt him if people realize that this would mean we would actually have our first woman president?

14 year old quotes? We’ve seen the past quotes. We do not see Romney trying to subvert the conservative movement in spite of your overstatement.

You’d think, but I’m telling you my mom was/is evangelical and they teach you that mormons are the devil. So even though they’d agree on a lot of stuff they won’t vote for him as they’d feel as if they might be voting for the anti-christ.

It’s all about SCOTUS, foreign policy and the economy. The Republicans better win this time around.

Personally, I like Romney - he’s actually made money, created jobs, and most importantly, hasn’t sucked off the public teat all of his life. How refreshing.

I cannot immagine the Secret Service telling anyone whether or not they performed a sweep of Romney’s place. They just don’t do that. An an agent leaking info is fired on the spot.

I am afraid it’s going to be Pawlenty. Nice guy. Conservative. Boring. All the excitement will be coming from the other side of the isle. My 1st pick was Mitt and my 2nd was Palin (she will be there to unseat Nobama/Plugs in 2012).
I think Jindal and Palin in 2012. Oh well.......Jimmy Carter 2nd Term here we come.
