Brilliant McCain Stroke: Now Hillary & Bill Can Vote For A Female... (Debbie Schlussel Thumbs Up!)

Though I'm no big fan of John McCain, his choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate is a stroke of genius. Brilliant.

I'm not into affirmative action picks, but Palin is smart, articulate, and competent in her own right, regardless of whether she has a uterus. And in this case, McCain picking a woman--a bright conservative who happens to be female--was necessary.

It was necessary because Barack Obama made a big mistake in picking Joe Biden. He angered female Hillary supporters. Now, they will have a tough time voting for the Obama-Biden ticket, which dissed them, and the McCain affirmative action ticket, which gave them something to think about.

The choice of Palin makes me more enthused to cast my vote for John McCain in November, because I like Palin. She's pro-drilling for oil in ANWR and offshore, she's pro-life, and she's an attractive and intelligent married mother of several kids. And she articulates the conservative viewpoint well.

And McCain's timing was genius and masterful, too. The "bounce"--if there was any--and buzz about Barack Obama's over-rated, ho-hum acceptance speech, last night, is over. Finito. So sad, too bad.

“This woman is not ready to be commander in chief. For that Joe Biden really is a better choice. “

You *must* be a troll. That is a laughable statement.
Biden?!? That guys ‘experience’ has consisted of being a liberal Democrat Senate windbag for 30 years and being consistently *wrong* time and time again.
- he supported Jimmy Carter for President
- he voted against the gulf war authorization in 1990
- he pushed heavy for kosovo war and other Clinton involvements that were truly unnecessary
- in Iraq, he went from pro-war up front, to advocating breaking up Iraq into 3 pieces (a disaster of an idea) to being anti-Surge (even though earlier he was for it); an inconsistent windsock whose advice throughout was off-base
- he wanted to give money to *Iran*

Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Obama and Biden COMBINED. She may not have foreign policy ‘experience’ but her head is screwed on right, lead the Nat Gaurd, has a son in the military, and is no gun grabber like Biden and Obama. That alone tells me she will be better than the Obama/Biden ticket.

“That this was a purely political move is laughably transparent.”

It’s a move to put a conservative on the ticket. This conservative is thrilled. McCain pandering to the base is A-OK with me!

1.Gov Palin is COMMANDER of the National Guard Force in Alaska, and that’s more experience than either of the democrats running, who could end up as Commander-in-Chief.

2. She has EXECUTIVE experience as a Mayor, and Governor.
More than either of the democrats running.

3. She has actually done REFORM CHANGE at the City and State levels.
The dems have only talked about it.

4. She has an 86% approval rating in Alaska, and that is something almost unheard of. Just what is the dems approval rating as Senators...hmmm.

5. She is both an environmentalist, and a pro-drill position in Alaska, and that is just the right balance considering the data on how environmentally friendly it is to drill now. The dems refuse to acknowledge the research.

6. She has managed an Oil and Gas Energy group. She has more knowledge than either Obama or Biden on it, and will chew them up and spit them out in any debate.

7. She just came back from Iraq, and visiting the troops last month, so don’t count her out on foreign policy. If she is like other Republican Governors, she has more knowledge than any of those Senators.

I’ll take “Sarah the Barracuda” over any other possible choice McCain could have made, because she is the right one.

And just what part of being THE COMMANDER OF THE NATIONAL GUARD MILITARY FORCE IN ALASKA disqualifes her as Commander-in-Chief, if need be?

“So I guess you’re setting this one out.”

“No, I’ll be voting for the most constitutionally conservative third party candidate.”

Like he said, you’re sitting this one out.

Going to the voting booth to vote third party is like going to the brothel for companionship.

He wanted a female on the ticket. She certainly is not even close to being the most qualified person to be CIC if he kicks the bucket. There are dozens of better choices; few that McCain was contemplating, I’ll grant.

She beat the corrupt Alaska GOP machine like a drum.

Her executive experience still beats Obama bin Biden, combined.

Whatever. You weren’t going to vote for McCain anyway, so now you have a new reason to stay home. Take care.

With McCain in the driver's sit, picking Palin is still putting lipstick (albeit kosher) on a pig. As much as anyone might like her, McCain's calling the shots still makes a McCain/Palin ticket as leftist as before.

No matter who wins, you're still going to get a very leftward tilt to the White House come Fall. So, why in the world would you want to aid and abet it?

“I have a feeling she will get creamed by Biden in the debate.”

She won’t get creamed by Biden in a debate because the debate will be aboout apples and oranges. All Biden can talk about are his accomplishments which are few. He cannot hit Palin on anything since she hasn’t been around a long time.

If anything, this debate will be boring to watch.

Commander of the National Guard and Commander in Chief are 2 very different titles. One commands the STATE of Alaska Guard and the other commands THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA forces.

How's that? Or, do you want to dig yourself deeper?

And, BTW, I never mentioned disqualified anywhere in my posts.

Greetings taxcontrol:

Governor Sarah Paulin as Vice President, didn’t happen in a vacuum. We vetted her on Free Republic. GOP muckity-mucks lurk here; they fully understand Michigan’s open Primary shoved Juan McCain down our throats. And the Base didn’t like it.

With Governor Paulin on the ticket, I finally feel comfortable about canvassing my neighborhood, stumping for a candidate that I can support.

Perhaps that NObama bumper sticker will be replaced by a McCain-Paulin? And I too may write a check.

Cheers,
OLA

But just remember, secretaryMary, it's still John McCain in the driver's sit: For fear of being accused of being hen-pecked, psycho John won't readily take orders from any woman...not unless he needs her millions, of course.

This woman is not ready to be commander in chief.

She appears to have character. Lack of experience can be fixed easier than lack of character can. Four years of a McCain administration will leave her ready

My liberal leaning son, who lives in AK, LOVES this woman. He thinks she’s a great governor. I’ll take his word over E. Cartman’s any day of the week.

I have more faith in him than you, Eric. I believe God to be in control and God can change even John McCain’s weaknesses into strengths.

What an exciting choice.
I agree, we’ve definitely got ourselves a Margaret Thatcher here, with a wilderness touch. How wonderful and American.

This is one lady to watch, she’s dynamite.
I love what has happened today.
