Ms. Alaska
NY Times ^ | 8.29.08 | Tim Egan

Posted on 08/29/2008 1:01:46 PM PDT by rface

She hunts! She fishes! She eats moose burgers!

[ snip ]

Gov. Sarah Palin , who has more than a passing resemblance to Tina Fey, took on the kleptocracy of Alaska’s Republican politics and won.

she ousted hated incumbent Frank Murkowski in a primary two years ago, and then promptly cleaned up his mess in Juneau, even selling his private jet on e-bay. Second, she rejected the “bridge to nowhere,” the famous earmark for a span from Ketchikan to an island of 50 people -–

Palin eloped with her husband, Todd, a commercial fisherman, who later won the 2,000-mile Iron Dog snow machine (as snowmobiles are called in Alaska) race. She gave each of her five children names that sound like her state -– Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig.....

As a University of Idaho graduate, a television sports reporter, a beauty queen who was Miss Wasilla and competed for Miss Alaska, Palin brings a bit of the “Legally Blonde” aspect to the race -– you underestimate her at your peril......

With the party leader pushing 73 I’d say the VP pick has a little more significance this time. They’ll be the defacto party leader in 4 years.

She's a Walmart Mom. All the women who voted Bush last time and have been leaning towards Obama are now gonna stop in their tracks and say: "Gee - she's just like me! Big family, honest family values, has a special-needs baby", etc, etc I'm worried. Lisa
Comment seen at The Daily Kos. They are indeed worried.

Ms. Alaska

I suspect the propagandists (note: NOT "journalists") of
The Old Gray Lady didn't have the integrity to call Governor Palin
and ask if she preferred "Ms. Palin" or
Mrs. Palin.

He wouldn’t have the balls to challenge her to a one-on-one.

I don’t think so, because Fey is an attractive woman and is a smart woman who writes and produces.
I don’t see it as demeaning.
Trust me, I always look for the digs when reading left wing articles, but IMO the Fey comment wasn’t a dig.

Who is hell is Tina Fey?

A second-rate comedienne that stars on a worn out comedy show that hasn't been knee-slapping funny in 20 years.

The LAST thing the leftists at the NYT will do is take this woman seriously, just like they never took Clarence Thomas seriously. They can't afford to.

So... unless they can dig up something really unflattering, look for more snide comments on her attire, makeup, her kid's names, her resemblance to obscure celebrities.

The kind of misogynistic crap the feminists constantly attack the right for.

I agree; this was an unusually mild hit from the NYT. It’s almost like they want to be harder on her, but grudgingly admit that she is pretty likable. It’s almost like the writers realize that their backhanded compliments are halfhearted and lame.

“Militantly anti-choice?” Sounds a lot more sinister than “pro-life,” doesn’t it?

Talk about a loaded phrase.

No, this article is as harsh as the NYTs could manage less than 4 hours after the pick was announced.

girlangler: He found our girl! She’s a clone of us, LOL! :)

rface: I am absolutely thrilled from head to toe with this VP pick! :)

I’m working on the McCain campaign here in Cow Town, Wisconsin, (phone banks, mailing literature, putting up yard signs, etc.) and stopped by HQs to hear the announcement this morning with other McCainiacs.

We were through the ROOF, cheering, jumping, screaming, when the announcement was made this morning.

Wa-Hoooooooooo!! I hope I get the chance to meet her and shake her hand. :)

I’m afraid many on our side are becoming like the abused stepchild - we’re beside ourself with gratitude when the ol’ man (the media) hits us 9 times instead of the usual 10.
