John McCain was aiming to make history with his pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and historians say he succeeded.
Presidential scholars say she appears to be the least experienced, least credentialed person to join a major-party ticket in the modern era.

“Community Organizer” for ACORN is another word for “Vote Fraud Coordinator” because that’s all that ACORN is good for.
Compared to Obama and Mrs. Clinton, no less.
Now, thats funny, I don’t care who you are.
Palin, with 16 years of public life, versus Obama who has never had a job in his life. Palin, who took on corruption and won, versus Obama who went through a hundred million dollars but no one knows where it went to. Who talks a good game but hasn’t a single accomplishment to his name. Not a single one.
“Obama writes in his own book that when he was a community organizer that he didnt get anything done. He complains again and again about running into brick walls.”
Palin saw the brick walls and knocked them down to do the right thing. Brick walls that most Alaskans thought were indestructible.
That is the difference right there.
Liberal scholars? Okay, now I know she’s a good choice.
This is just partisan lying.
We’re going to get a lot more of it for the next two months.
The communists have a chance to elect one of their own President, and will stop at nothing to win.
I'll observe that "scholar" is not considered a qualification for the Presidency.
Right Obama has only been a member of the legislative branch of government. Palin has been a governor. She’s actually run a government. Obama never has.
But then some alleged experts think only those who have been in Washington have experience.
Presidential scholars say she appears to be the least experienced, least credentialed person to join a major-party ticket in the modern era.
Not much of scholars if they do not know that Obama is currently running on a major party ticket. How is he more experienced and more credentialed then Palin.
At least she believes she is an American. Obama believes he is a world citizen....
“Not to belittle Alaska, but its different than the basket of issues you deal with in big, dynamic states. Dallek said.”
Obama cowardly voted “present” most of the time in Illinois.
The office of Governor is an executive position, and she's exceptional at it. VP is a logical move up -- in a meritocracy.
In the leftist, upside-down-backward-spinning-deconstructionist world, credentials are exclusive of qualifications.
A "community organizer" might be like a "sales associate" position.
In Wall Street terms, she's a C-level exec. Obama's an associate, trying to get into the executive suite.
'tain't gonna happen.
I think to be considered a “presidential historian” you have to have written a fawning biography of a Democratic president.
What's next, the letter from 400 historians? Not only do the Democrats have no new ideas, they don't even have any new attack modes. |
She ran a company, a city and a state government, was chairwoman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, yet they’re saying she is less experienced than Senator Obama, who was in the U.S. Senate for 143 days before deciding he was presidential material? Hahahahahaha! What a hoot!!
Between Senator John McCain’s 23 years in the Navy and her many years as an executive, it’s not even a contest. I worked 15 years at the State Employment Commission, so I know exactly what a “community organizer” does, and just that should DISQUALIFY him from ANY political office!!
This piece is like Joseph Goebbels writing from the bunker in Berlin about what a bunch of “inexperienced” amatuers Ike, Bradley and Patton are.
I’m watching Fox coverage of the first McCain/Palin appearence in PA and the crowd is packed with women, it’s odd for a Republican Rally...
As for the “scholars”, we call them “pointed headed liberals” were I’m from...
“scholars”?
not experts, but “scholars”!
The DBM think Mr. and Mrs. America are THAT stupid.
Update: After reading this article, the McCain campaign issued the following statement:
"The authors quote four scholars attacking Gov. Palin's fitness for the office of Vice President. Among them,
David Kennedy is a maxed out Obama donor,
Joel Goldstein is also an Obama donor, and
Doris Kearns Goodwin has donated exclusively to Democrats this cycle. Finally,
Matthew Dallek is a former speech writer for Dick Gephardt.
This is not a story about scholars questioning Governor Palin's credentials so much as partisan Democrats who would find a reason to disqualify or discount any nominee put forward by Senator McCain."
It has something to do with farming. I once had a friend who was a community organizer in Atlanta.
He was always on the phone trying to organize his hoes.
I thought farmers used tractors, these days???
The bottom line is the letter at the end of the name of the person seeking political office. If it’s a “D”, then many alleged sins, faults of character, lack of tangible experience, and other criteria applied to other candidates will not be held against the candidate of the “D” party.
If one has an “R” after one’s name, then one is held to strict standards and there are endless comparisons and “pissing contests” regarding whether than person has any qualifications that measure up to the candidate with a “D”. The candidate with the “D” will be held to be superior.
Interesting to talk about Geraldine Ferraro. She had been a congresswoman for six years. Isn’t being a state governor a more significant position than being one of 435 members of the House?
What are the criteria anyway? Is it the number of years in public office of any kind? Does the office held matter? Hillary claimed 35 years of experience, but only 7 of those years were in elective office.
