My Interview with Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (Larry Kudlow Aug 1, 2008 )
CNBC ^ | Friday, 1 Aug 2008 | Larry Kudlow

Posted on 08/31/2008 12:04:49 PM PDT by Ernest_at_the_Beach

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has exactly the high energy, political toughness, and conservative reform message that would boost Sen. John McCain’s presidential run if Big Mac were to put her on the ticket. In an interview last evening on CNBC, Palin was very clear on her drill, drill, drill message for Alaska and the rest of the U.S., along with her strong supply-side tax-cutting and free-market economic views. She did not shirk from questions about an investigation of her firing the state’s safety commissioner. She told us she has nothing to hide — let them bring it on.

Palin is dealing with Alaska’s culture of corruption by supporting all manner of reform and investigation. She basically dissed Ted Stevens, calling him a distraction. She then talked about cleansing the Republican party of all the pork-barrel corruption that cost it the congressional election of November 2006.

Palin’s response to all the vice-presidential talk is fascinating. It was a point of view I have never heard before and it underscored her independence. I have interviewed all the veep prospects, and I still have Gov. Palin at the top of my list.

I hope readers will enjoy this interview:

Kudlow: All right, now we’re pleased to welcome back to the program the much talked about rising Republican star Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin. Welcome back Governor.

Palin: Thank you so much Larry.

Kudlow: Here’s the bad news. The Congress is going to take their summer recess without a vote — not even a vote — on rolling back the moratorium on drilling onshore and offshore. Not even a vote. Nothing on ANWR. Nothing on shale. Nothing on the Outer Continental Shelf. What’s your reaction to this?

Sarah’s accent sounds very similar to me to Canadian accents. The thing that stands out the most for me, both in her speech and that of Canadians, is “long o’s”.

Watch Ice Road Truckers on the History Channel sometime (great program), if you want to hear a lot of Canadian accents to compare to Sarah.

I actually want her to debate “THE ONE”. She will clobber him like no tomorrow. Compare her crisp and smooth answers to Obama’s hmm...uh....ah...ugh..blah blah blah.

The media is dying to see her falter. That is not likely to happen.

Are western Canadian accents different than eastern ones?

Because, being from PA (and a diehard hockey fan), I've heard Canadian accents before.

Hers seemed different to me.

That I couldn’t really answer, as I near the Southern border, a long ways from the Northern border. I just notice some similarities in Sarah’s speech, to the speech of Canadians I have met in person, and seen on TV.

At least when we see Sarah go duck hunting, it won't be a photo op , she knows how to use a gun.... she's the real deal unlike some other photo op opportunist ( Kerry ) as we saw in 2004 election.

If she has an accent like yours, you probably don’t even notice it.

I’m from south central PA, and seeing PA Dutch folk is no big deal. So my accent would probably sound pretty funny to you!

Thanks for the ping. I admire what is broadcast about Governor Palin’s beliefs about family very much.

I also want to see a strong national defense, a defeat of identity politics (feminist, race and religion politics), and a willingness to stop preferring third-world foreigners for hiring (proper nationalism being necessary for defense), and maybe...

BTW, recruiters are advising me to leave the military history experience part of job applications blank. It is disagreeable with most potential clients. ...need to grow the hair out a little more, too (flattop said to be too military or look like a gangster cut).

I hope what I am seeing with my wife is a microcosm of a national phenomenon-- she is electrified by Sarah Palin's nomination, to the point of sending her money-- I have never before seen this, in 24 years of marriage.

And, as I've made a point to mention, she was a Democrat until Kerry scared her so badly she changed voter registration.
