BTW, even the nuts at DU are approaching criticism of this with caution.
This isn’t as negative as you make it out to be.
There is a lot of positive energy in this situation.
Don’t come down on me because McCain and Palin have shown poor judgment and made a lousy decision.
I want to beat Obama and Biden. This doesn’t help.

If it was a Liberal candidate whose 17-year-old daughter was pregnant, the teen's condition would have ZERO ZILCH NADA to do with why I'd reject that Liberal candidate. Furthermore, I'd have nothing but contempt for anyone, Republican or Democrat, who cited the teen daughter's condition as the reason for rejecting the candidate.
There would be nothing "smart" or "graceful" about Palin withdrawing because of her daughter's condition. ON THE CONTRARY, it would be stupid and craven.
My son got his girlfriend pregnant at 19(they both were). And I can't remember how many times I told him to be “safe”, I made the same mistake at 20. I was so worried cuz the boy wasn't ready, and I remember the struggle me and my wife went through being so young and having a child. But it all changed the day I held my granddaughter for the first time. This precious gift from God has only strengthened my family, we are all a lot closer because of it. And my son is doing a wonderful job as a dad. He will be marrying his girl next year. So again Congrats Gov. Palin on this gift; and don't let the political Bravo Sierra spoil it. Having a similar experience in my family, this only strengthens my resolve to vote for you and that “wrinkly white haired RINO” your running with.
Well time will tell won’t it? Thankfully Sylvia Browne misses most of her psychic predictions as well.
I don’t really think this hurts her much. It discredits the internet rumors which attacked her credibility and everyone understands that kids make their own choices. Also, I strongly disagree that it shows that her family values didn’t pass on. Yes, the kid made a mistake, however, she also had the guts to do the right thing and keep the baby and get married. Also, it again shows that Sarah Palin lives by her convictions since she encouraged her daughter to have the baby and get married rather than encouraging her to have a hush hush abortion like many self interested politicians would have done. Plus the DU people now look like first class jerks for bringing this story out into the open since it was simply an attack on Bristol that has no effect on the credibility of her mother.
How many votes did that win them? 0 among a nation of 250m+.
Hardly. People are posting with their emotions and not using their intellect. Acting more like liberals, than conservatives.
This does absolutely nothing positive for McCain’s campaign. NOTHING! His chances of winning have taken a huge hit. Just watch.

I think both sides need to recollect themselves. This is neither a hugely positive nor a hugely negative event. It falls well with in the the “yawn” range of political news. To me it’s on par with Todd Palin’s DUI, or Obama smoking weed as a youth, or Bush having a drinking problem as a young man. It’s a gigantic yawner.
You cannot have "family values" IF THERE IS NO FAMILY.

Oh, nonsense. The truth is that people, particularly moderates who make the difference in many elections, don’t vote for or against the VP candidates.

The two situations you mention are complete opposites.
One has nothing to do with the other.
You can't prevent teen sexual activity and it's stupid to pretend otherwise.It's true that you can't control everything your kids do, but parenting is about raising children to be moral and responsible adults so that they can have the fortitude to do the right thing of their own volition. Even teenagers have the capability to display great maturity if they are given the tools to do so. They are not mindless beasts whose only drive is the sexual impulse!
Sarah should have made sure Bristol was on the pill and knew about the importance of using condoms.Teens already have enough peer pressure prodding them to engage in premarital sex without allegedly responsible adults encouraging them as well. Parents giving their teens contraceptives sends mixed messages at best, and more likely encourages teens to do things which they shouldn't be doing at that stage in their lives in the first place.

How old was Obama's mom Ann Dunham when she was pregnant with Barry? I'll tell you she was 17 years old. This is not going to fly that far in the LSM.

I hope if any reporter asks her ablout this she’ll turn around and say that a baby coming into this world is a beautiful thing and it certainly would not be a punishment for her to have this baby
