Palin: wrong woman, wrong message
LA Times ^ | September 4, 2008 | Gloria Steinem

Posted on 09/04/2008 6:48:34 AM PDT by nikos1121

Sarah Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Hillary Clinton. She is Phyllis Schlafly, only younger.

Here's the good news: Women have become so politically powerful that even the anti-feminist right wing -- the folks with a headlock on the Republican Party -- are trying to appease the gender gap with a first-ever female vice president. We owe this to women -- and to many men too -- who have picketed, gone on hunger strikes or confronted violence at the polls so women can vote. We owe it to Shirley Chisholm, who first took the "white-male-only" sign off the White House, and to Hillary Rodham Clinton, who hung in there through ridicule and misogyny to win 18 million votes.

Palin has been honest about what she doesn't know. When asked last month about the vice presidency, she said, "I still can't answer that question until someone answers for me: What is it exactly that the VP does every day?" When asked about Iraq, she said, "I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq."

So far, the major new McCain supporter that Palin has attracted is James Dobson of Focus on the Family. Of course, for Dobson, "women are merely waiting for their husbands to assume leadership," so he may be voting for Palin's husband.

And American women, who suffer more because of having two full-time jobs than from any other single injustice, finally have support on a national stage from male leaders who know that women can't be equal outside the home until men are equal in it. Barack Obama and Joe Biden are campaigning on their belief that men should be, can be and want to be at home for their children.

This could be huge.

Gloria Steinem???? Who dug her up? I thought she’d be rolling over in her grave, but apparently she is still with the living, unless this is “ghost-written”...... so much fun to see the left in panic mode.

The first line of the article says it all:

Sarah Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Hillary Clinton. She is Phyllis Schlafly, only younger.

All I can add is a fervent: Thank you, Lord!!

How cool would it be to own that sign?

I going over to E-bay.....

Of course they are.

She is a combination of Ronald Reagan and Teddy Roosevelt in a sparkling female body. They are stunned.

the anti-feminist right wing ...-- are trying to appease the gender gap with a first-ever female vice president.

I judge people by what they have done...not by their gender.

The libs are the ones who engage in gender politics.

Gloria Steinem, who’s only claim to fame was to be a Playboy Bunny and write a book about it. Someone for women to look up to.

Liberal politics is not real smart....understatement, I know. You ALWAYS know when you have them...they whine like the little Marxist piglets that they are. Bingo! Palin is a wooden stake into the heart of these gutter-dwelling socialist lizards.

Keep it up, MSM, keep it up.

Srah Palin may even hasten the lingering death of MSM sewer outlets like the LA Times.

She is, after all, a hunter with compassion enough to administer the coup de grace.

Sarah Palin has the left wing nutbags running around like their hair's on fire saying whatever mean and stupid thing comes to their mind first.

I love it and I love Sarah Palin. I think we saw the coming out party of the first female President of the United States and that is driving the moonbats wild!

Gloria I am so sorry...

I know its painful..but u just might have to start shaving your legs after 39 years.

Palin is everything that terrifies you: a woman who is not afraid to be a woman, yet demands real respect.

Two thoughts:

1. Wow, that’s a pretty powerful endorsement.

2. Wow, Gloria Steinem is still alive?
