Just across. BET and TV One apparently decided that with Barry O already pulling 90-95% of the black vote, they neednt bother turning any precious airtime over to McCain. In fact, all four nights of the Democratic convention aired on both networks. The GOP convention didnt air at all.
Do note: Palin finished just shy of both candidates in total audience running on only six networks, two fewer than McCain and four fewer than Obama. Telemundo and Univision didnt bother with night three coverage.

Can I just say, I think the two latino stations only showed the speeches of Obama and McCain...the two running for president.
I don’t think they showed the entire RAT convention. At least they were fair. BET could be fined for not showing both.
Couldn’t they?
That’s pretty racist.
::snicker::
“BET could be fined for not showing both.
Couldnt they?”
Under the Fairness Doctrine, if that were to pass, yes. I don’t think they’re getting any kind of public funding, so I’d think they’re free to show what they want.
Maybe there are not all that many people out there interested in what Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., the charismatic, messianic Magic Negro, but there may be quite a few out there willing to listen to the other side.
Very likely the two different conventions drew rather different demographics.
They could have prior to the Reagan administration's repeal of the "fairness doctrine".
OMG. I just watched the full speech on the internet-I don’t even want to read the pundits commentaries, it would spoil it for me-the last part moved me to tears, and I’m no wimpy liberal who turns on the faucet at the drop of a phrase. Nothing could be more moving than his story that lead to him saying “America saved me”. And I grinned from ear to ear when he said the part (paraphrasing) about not thinking that he was called of God to “save the country in its hour of need”, but that he felt honored to be able to serve her. I don’t care what the chatterati are saying, that speech moved me in a different way, as much as Sarah Palin’s did. I don’t agree with John McCain on everything-I have major disagreements with him on a couple of things-but my gut tells me that NO one, absolutely no one, could have the integrity as far as having a real desire to serve as elected that he will bring to the Presidency, even if I want to throttle him for some of his beliefs in the future.
Ok..well I don’t want anything to with the fairness doctrine.
It doesn’t matter, because BET is correct, hardly any black people are voting for McCain.
I block BET due to their really low class programming.
Si, la razaists!
No one can detract from McCain’s integrity and service. Even those who do not agree with him have to concede them.
There is no choice when it is The Hero vs. the Zero.
BET, isn’t that the network that features hos trying to earn their crack money? Thank God Palin wasn’t shown amongst the guttersnipes.
BET would really love the Fairness Doctrine, wouldn’t they? Would it be enforced for them? No way. In this case the Fairness Doctrine would be just for the weak-minded whiteys who might be persuaded.
Oh Noz! I bet Barama’s head is spinning!
As they say in the cornfield-”Sa-LUTE!”
hey it’s their ratings to lose to other networks
I’m not the brightest bulb on the tree, but here’s my two cents worth:
At 72, Mr. McCain just made another sacrifice for his country; He gave us what seems
to be another ‘real’ conservative which may just carry us for the next twelve years.
He’ll be gone, but his mark will remain.
I’d like to know what BET’s normal # of viewers would be for a Thursday night and compare it to BET’s actual #s for last night. It could be said that the difference in viewership was the group watching McCain. Might be one way to evaluate black interest in McCain/Palin.
“””BET and TV One apparently decided that with Barry O already pulling 90-95% of the black vote, they neednt bother turning any precious airtime over to McCain.”””
It is sad that BET and TV One did not air the Republican convention. But I guess the Democrats and the Black Leadership would not want their minions to ever know the truth.
I loved the “zero” symbol at the convention—a replacement for the “O” hand sign.
Nope, they can't be fined, we don't have the fairness doctrine any more, which is just great. Bet can show who they want, when they want, and that is the way it should be. If we go crabbing and complaining about things like this we are just opening outselves up to a repeat of the fairness doctrine, we don't need that sh**.
And BET wants to keep it that way.
BET wants to keep its viewers on the Democrat Plantation.
That’s pretty amazing. Palin vs. Biden’s ratings are even more dramatic.
I wonder if the media will hype the fact McCain just broke the record like they did for Obama...
I wonder how that breaks down in how much was spent by both campaigns to produce these results . I would bet Obama out spent McCain.
What kind of audience did “Plugs for Slugs” Biden draw? 5 relatives from Scranton?

Wish I could find that out also. This link only shown the major cable news netowrk ratings.

Do you have the website address for McCain's speech?
Well said.
I’m on the handheld thingy right now, when I get back to the laptop I’ll get it for you. I think it was on the MSNBC site. I made sure to avert my eyes from anything else on the site, LOL.
Thanks...no rush
There is a mountain of FEC violations. One that screams at me is all that free airtime that the dims received IS, if I’m not mistaken, considered a donation if the opposing party does not receive the same consideration. Do ya think the GOP could get away with that? Is the McCainPalin Campaign going to pursue this violation and further erode osabama’s chances? Just wondering.

I don’t know, the media is now fully out of control, no longer even pretending, or even trying to pretend, to be objective. This is the worst I have ever seen it. I do think something needs to be done, I’m just not sure what.
Nothing new. I was a Reagan Democrat watching the press trashing the Republicans at every opportunity during the 1980 convention. I said to myself, “Well, next month, Carter gets his.” Then I watched the press ooh and ahh over every feminist and gay rights kook and Ron Dellums and pimp the Democrats even though Carter and Kennedy were gouging each other's eyes out.
I was 22, and never looked at the press the same way after that. They are craven, shameless, partisan buzzards.
Becki
Thank you! Just saw it...awesome.
That's interesting. I hope it's true, because I've been very upset to learn that the two stations directed at an Hispanic audience might have been trying to manipulate that audience by not letting them see the Republican side. One of these stations - Telemundo, possibly - is owned by NBC.
Even complaining about it could be construed as a hate crime.
Good slogan for us FReepers:
John McCain
Love him now
Throttle him as President
That’s hilarious when you think about it: The DNC convention = “Black Entertainment Television.”
Sounds to me like BET and TV One are run by racist mysoginists.
There ain't nothing pretty about it.
If the libs were to pass the “Fairness Doctrine” I think they would be for a rude awakening.
