The Rally was held at the Freedom Hill Amphitheatre and it was a sold out show. I picked up my tickets for the rally the day before Sarah Palin spoke at the convention. The day after she spoke, the rally sold out! I think there were about 7000 people, I'll have to double check that number.

I painted a sign prior to the rally:

Sarah Palin A True American Feminist!

I think she is a true feminist and whether or not anyone else does also, I was hoping that the sign would make people like Gandy and Keenan go nuts .

When we got to the rally they wouldn't let anyone bring in their signs which was to bad because there were some really cute ones like: Read My Lipstick..

The campaign handed out Mccain/Palin signs to people. I had my Hillary shirt on and was told that they'd be handing out Hillary supporters for McCain or Democrats for McCain...but they never did. A "citizens for McCain" woman gave a speech which was received very warmly by the Republican crowd. A group of people sitting somewhere behind us shouted: "Democrats For McCain"!! I looked and tried to identify who the people were but couldn't seeing as there were no identifying signs allowed and the McCain campaign only passed out the one sign. I would have loved to have met them.

The build up to McCain and Sarah was intense and when they finally entered the building, the crowd went WILD!! Absolutely WILD!! It was a ton of fun! The crowd was going back and forth chanting: John Mc-Cain!! John-Mc Cain!! to "SARAH!! SARAH!! SARAH!!" to "USA!! USA!!"

McCain came on to the stage with his beautiful wife, Cindy, his lovely daughter, Bridget and of course the Governor of Alaska: SARAH!! SARAH!!

They were all beautiful and very warm. Sarah spoke first and basically repeated her convention speech. John McCain told us he was going to "straight talk" with us and said that he needs to win Michigan! The audience shouted: OK!! lol...Prior to the candidates taking the stage there were lots of speeches honoring McCain's service and the veterans with lots of standing ovations.

The Republican seniors sure love their campaign events and their political party and there were a lot of them there at the rally today. With so many people and only one exit, getting out of the Amphitheatre was slow-going. A cameraman with crew following him was trying to bust through the crowd to get out of the building. I was getting mad because he could have hurt a senior in his haste. I noticed the cameraman's ID tag which identified him and the crew following him as CNN. Well, that set me off..lol. I told him to stop trying to bust through the crowd. He said that he was sorry but that he was on a deadline and had to get his footage off. Seeing as how I'm totally hating CNN these days, I'm now also totally hating this guy!! I asked him, "Does the fact that you're a cameraman make you a VIP? NO!! IT DOES NOT!!! IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU ANYTHING BUT A CAMERAMAN and you can wait in line with the rest of us"!! Then I tell everyone around me, who are all senior citizens and looking at me like I'm nuts, to not let this guy through! The poor cameraman asked a staffer to let him through the ropes so he could get out of the place...and off he went. I'm usually not that rude but I couldn't help it. I had this vision of the cameraman sending his footage to CNN only for the biased anchors to do what they do best: twist, turn and talk badly about anything John McCain or Sarah Palin!

The campaign handed out McCain/Palin yard signs after the rally and tomorrow I'll put it in my lawn right next to my Hillary Clinton sign!

It was a lot of fun. The Republicans proved to be a great crowd of people and I enjoyed being a part of herstory.

I am finding these threads fascinating and fun! The Dems are discovering we aren't three-headed monsters! Maybe we're seeing the birth of a second generation of Reagan Democrats!

A dear friend of mine, old liberal his whole life, told me he’s voting “Republican” this time. His words, “She is really impressive.”

I’ve been reading these Hillary forums for days. These people are PO’d at BO and are activists. They are writing Hillary trying to convince her not to campaign for BO. And...they (mostly) love Sarah!

I just wish they hadn’t of closed registration. I’d like to get in on some of the discussions at hillaryclintonforum.net

Who would have thought, a year ago, that we would find Hillary supporters to be one of the most sensible blocks of swing voters this cycle? When even democrats can’t convince themselves to back their own nominee, that’s a bad sign. I realize a lot of people hate Hillary, and she’ll do what she can to preserve her place in the dem party, but we need to reach out to these disenfranchised Clinton supporters. After a year of watching the media accuse Hillary of racism, writing articles about her breasts, and holding her to a different standard than Obama, they are looking for any excuse to ditch the democrat presidential ticket. McCain is maverick enough to draw their attention, and Palin can help seal the deal.

I’ve talked to several dems who are leaning McCain. Doing my part to draw them in - I think come November democrats will be wondering what ever prompted them to nominate such a weak candidate. I didn’t think so just two months ago, my perception has changed since the Biden selection and then the Palin selection.

Seeing as how I'm totally hating CNN these days

Me too. I was walking down the hallway in a building yesterday evening, and there was a flat screen on the wall with CNN on. I didn't have time to stop and listen, so I don't know the context of their story. But the graphic on the screen behind the newscaster was obviously designed to capture the attention of people who were passing by.

It was about the current economic picture, and in big bold letters, it said, "The McBush Economy."

CNN clearly knows that a lot of people are just catching glimpses of TV screens these days in hallways, in store fronts, in bars and restaurants. And they take advantage of that to shape public opinion. In this one, they were clearly trying to tie Bush and McCain together in people's minds concerning the economy. Do we not all know that the Democrats currently control Congress, not the Republicans? If someone complains, they can say, "But did you LISTEN to the story? We were being fair and balanced." No, you weren't.

Actually, most truckers are conservatives, if they vote at all! If there truly was a way to do an accurate political survey of all truckers, then people would see that all truckers, who really are involved in politics and in voting, are conservatives. Also, the truck unions have often endorsed Republican Presidential candidates in the past.

They're ticked-off. But, it's my belief that within 2-3 weeks Hillary will be at the top of their ticket and Obami on the bottom. The whispers among the party elders are going on now.

Wishful thinking on the part of panicking dems. Any switch like that would be a disaster at this point.

From your lips, to God's ears. I don't put anything past them though. Obama is dead meat, and they now know it.

Even so, they can not dump the first black man to win the nomination. Dems can NOT win without the black vote and such an action would so infuriate black voters (not to mention Oprah) the damage would be incalculable. It is possible that Biden could be dumped in favor of Hillary, but she is too smart to bail him out at this point. It is in her best interest that Obama lose, but she can not appear to be helping him lose.

I must admit to a little change in my opinion of Hillary. I still despise Bill and don't think much more of her, but, until McCain picked Sarah, I was getting a little concerned that this arrogant, incompetent, completely unprepared man might actually win. I found myself wishing that Hillary had won the nomination, even though I would have hated to see the two of them back in the WH. As McCain's slogan says, it should always be "Country First", and I think the US would fare better under a Hillary presidency than with Obama. She is a smart politician, and, like Bill, she would have to govern more from the center if she wanted to be reelected. Obama would not have the good sense or the humility to do that.

I think the only whispers going on are about how they can get rid of Palin. However, if they do dump Obama and put Hillary up, then they may gain the PUMAs back but they will lose a large segment of the black vote and totally rip their party apart, If they want to see riots then let them dump Obamaosama. I think they will take the hit with Obamaosama and cut their losses.

“I am finding these threads fascinating and fun! The Dems are discovering we aren’t three-headed monsters! Maybe we’re seeing the birth of a second generation of Reagan Democrats!”

Absolutely true - it is really fascinating. I spent a great deal of time on that forum between the announcement last Friday and the close of the convention on Thursday, and the enthusiasm of the posters there was just astounding.

In the beginning, it was all generated by Palin, naturally, but as the days wore on, cracks would appear in the liberal armour they were so used to wearing.

Not major cracks, mind you, because there are policy issues which are irreconcilable (at least so far) but slowly the focus of their support for McCain/Palin shifted from Obama hatred - which is fierce - to a grudging admission that McCain is not actually all that bad.

The upshot of all this is that within one weeks time I watched their willingness to vote for McCain/Palin grow from protest vote to enthusiastic support - thanks to Sarah, at first, but later because of a growing admiration for the ticket as a whole. In terms of impactful voting numbers, I don’t know, but a significant percentage went from staying home to voting (for Palin) and I dare see some will even donate.

That's slitting their own throat and they know it. They'll not only lose the Black vote but there'll be riots.

The only possible thing that could happen like that would be Biden being replaced. But the Biden problem is nothing compared to their Obama problem. And they know it.
