The GOP needed a fresh face. Imagine where we would be today if McCain had gone with a conventional choice as VP. It would be another lackluster ticket like we've had in the past (re: Dole/Kemp) and while we might still have won in November (due to the incompetence and stupidity of the Dems choosing Barack Obama), it would have been a Pyrrhic victory, setting ourselves up for additional Dem gains in Congress and a real beating in 2012.

If you want to realize how close to disaster we came, just remember the main speakers on the last night of the GOP convention. Tom Ridge, Lindsey Graham, for example. These guys were god-awful and they sucked the air right out of the convention hall. If not for the spectacular performances earlier in the week of Thompson, Guiliani and Palin, this convention would have been a MAJOR bust. I was absolutely embarrassed for the Republican Party Thursday night and the GOP would do well to move those bores off the main stage for the 2012 convention and bring in more fresh faces like Bobby Jindal and other up-and-comers in the party.

Now this Sarah Palin phenomenon is a great thing and really took me by surprise. But I'm concerned that Sarah has not had a chance to more gradually develop on the national stage and might make a major career-ending gaffe because let's face it, she's a "rookie" in this arena. Now she seems to be a quick study and might well pull it off but the sharks are in the water and ready to pounce at the slightest drop of blood. Sarah needs to be "perfect" for at least the next 60 days.

With Sarah Palin, many conservatives now have something to look forward to other than tired-out old men. The GOP would do well

Stevens and Murkowsky surely aren’t laughing about it!

Go look at Margaret Thatcher’s bio. She was very similarly belittled as not worthy, too “small”, unconnected, inexperienced, etc. Attacked like mad. She proved them all wrong.

Hip checks can be EXTREMELY vicious - and still be legal and even harmless -and spectacularly cool to watch.

Rush, on Thursday, went into a lot of detail about Sarah being in that Convention hall on Wed.eve... how incredibly difficult it is to speak like that, timing, teleprompter, people going gah-gah, interrupting, even swooning, etc. He was just in awe of how she was able to do that the very first time she was put into such exposure. AND, the teleprompter was out of sync for over half the speech, too, which made that more impressive than I can even imagine!

He just believes she’s a true natural speaker, and that she will do well on the national stage because she hides nothing from the people.

I believe Rush is right, that this article is right that she doesn’t have to be “perfect”, but simply continue to be “real”.

The McCain camp wisely let Mrs. Palin play the role of a traditional Vice Presidential candidate in attacking the opposition, and doing so in her own voice. Her dissection of Mr. Obama’s thin Presidential resume was as effective as anyone’s, all the more so because she could compare her own executive experience to the 47-year-old Senator’s.

We hope the campaign now resists any temptation to keep her under wraps. No doubt she will make mistakes on the stump, as everyone does, especially with an embarrassed press corps now looking for any what-is-the-capital-of-Laos-type mistake. But after this week, Mrs. Palin won’t be easy to dismiss as too small for the job.

This is a great close!

Check your email. Also, FR’s policy is no advertising as I recall. Have you cleared this with JimRob?

Lots of people have this EXACT bumpersticker.

Why was my post removed?

My graphic was different than this person’s. And FR’s policy is no advertising. This poster is advertising. Jim said that his tax exempt status depended on that issue.

Bunny,
Please don’t egg other posters on.

Liberty,
Please don’t post links to your CafePress store. We try to avoid solicitations here and don’t want this turned into a site where everyone links to their eBay or CafePress deJour.

Technically, I don’t believe the image can be copyrighted as it uses nicknames in the public domain and the graphics and themes used are taken from the campaign’s own graphics. It may be copyrightable, but I wouldn’t invest too much in calling that one.
