Crowd goes wild for Palin ... and McCain gets a good reception too
Times UK ^ | 9/8/08 | Tim Reid

Sarah Palin stands on stage as a crowd of exuberant Republicans, some wearing “I love pitbulls with lipstick” T-shirts, roar “Sar-ah, Sar-ah, Sar-ah” at their newfound heroine — a woman they believe has just transformed their hopes of winning the White House.

Behind her, having woken to the news that he has taken a lead over Barack Obama for the first time in nine months, is a grinning 72-year-old man, clapping along to the rhythm of the chanting as his running-mate basks in the adulation. His name is John McCain, by the way, but it is Mrs Palin the crowd has come to see.

Within seconds, with a guttural, rodeo-like defiance in her voice when she talks about “guts” and “honour” — two qualities she makes clear to the crowd that Mr Obama is sorely lacking — she lambasts the Democrat for failing to support the Iraq “surge”, when Mr McCain risked his presidential ambitions by backing it.

“In Iraq change happened and that's a great thing for America, Senator,” she sneered to her crowd in the Kansas City suburb of Lee's Summit, and the cheering and whooping began again.

The best part about this is that no one on the left saw this coming. They have no ammo against her that will work and everyone on the right is uniting as a result of McCain’s choice.

I hope McCain has the good sense to use the joke “Hi, I’d like to introduce myself. I’m Sara Palin’s running mate”

I was there the crowd was HUGE! We couldn’t get inside but McCain and Palin came outside and spoke for a bit. Palin mingled with the crowd but the secret service hurried McCain off. Thousands were there today. It’s hard to get a good estimate though. I know they let around 3 thousand inside and there were thousands more outside. A lot of people left when they couldn’t get inside. The weather was cold and misty,

The Times at least calls her “Mrs.” rather than the feminazi-inspired “Ms.” the snotty lib blogs always use.

It seems they REALLY like each other—good chemistry. He looks at her with pride.

Why do I doubt that she sneered.

The weather was cold and misty,

Probably the most comfortable Sarah has been since her nomination!

One thing about McCain is that I don’t think he minds sharing the spotlight at all...he probably welcomes it. Unlike he who shall remain nameless.

Astonishing admonition...when I see Sarah, part of me, deep down inside, hopes that he gives her just enough time to get up to speed on what she needs and then steps aside. Let her loose before she can possibly be corrupted by Washington politics.

I know, it's shameful, hence my bringing my darkness to the light. But seeing her in action is just awesome. Oddly enough, I think he is creating some pretty big shoes for himself to fulfill.

On the day he picked Palin, someone on FR noted that he looked 20 years younger while the crowd reacted to her.

That observation is holding out a week or so later.

I've thought the same thing.

Kinda like always thinking the back-up quarterback is better than the guy on the field.

Lets be careful....I think their strategy now is to raise expectations sooooo high that we will be disappointed.

You will be hearing people from the left start praising Sarah and start, acting weird like they are promoting her.

WHEN IN FACT THE RATS...ARE SETTING HER UP!

HEDGE OF PROTECTION FOR JOHN AND SARAH!!!!

WE MUST DEFEND OUR CANDIDATES....DONT FALL FOR STUPID!!!

RATS attacking Sarah and her family will backfire. Liberal human waste know nothing about the American people.
