Palin: Phantom Of The Oprah
IBD Editorials ^ | September 8, 2008

Media Bias: Oprah Winfrey won't invite Sarah Palin on her show because she doesn't want to use it to promote any candidate. Yet she was willing to use the celebrity garnered from her show to promote Barack Obama.

This is the classic distinction without a difference. Oprah is one of those one-name celebrities. Her very mention of a book's title can make it a best-seller. When Oprah speaks, people listen.

People listened earlier this year when she bypassed Sen. Hillary Clinton to publicly embrace the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama, who had been on her show twice — in January 2005 and October 2006.

Oprah has influence, and she used that influence to help Obama. She said she endorsed him as an individual and not as a talk show host. She says when he was on her show he was not yet officially a candidate and that her policy is not to use her show to advance the cause of any candidate. Or is it just Republicans?

The endorsement of Oprah the beautician or Oprah the sales clerk at a department store cosmetics counter would have no impact. Using her celebrity as the No. 1 talk show host does. Obama doesn't have to appear on her show once she's publicly endorsed him.

A study by two University of Maryland professors found that Oprah's endorsement of Obama may have netted him 1 million votes in his primary run against Hillary Clinton. The Obama campaign said her rallies produced 10,000 new volunteers, 650 volunteers in critical New Hampshire alone.

The left is crying because Palin won’t come into any forums so the country can hear from her, and yet one of the largest shows (Oprah) in the country refuses to have her?!?!

She can’t win.

Could it be shes a racist? Nah, that would only be possible if she were white and had the white candidate on but refused the black one....then she would be a racist.

At this point, an appearance on Oprah would only diminish the credibility Palin has brought to the Republican ticket.

Oprah is a big-time liberal. And she is racist, in spite of what she says. Her commercialized liberalism knows no bound -— yes, Obama was not an “announced” candidate when she was stumping for him but that is exactly what she was doing. And the big “cry my eyelashes off” bit was just more of the same hypocrisy.

Can’t stump for either candidate, eh? How dumb does she, or her staff, think the non-Oprah-watchers are in America?

Governor Palin doesn’t need the other big “0” for one iota.

Better yet, Sarah could give other good shows a shot in the arm.
But I don’t know of any good ones I would watch, let alone
want her subjected to their vile vomit.

My guess is the other Big “ZERO’s audience will have gotten a little smaller by now or soon will be.

Governor Palin does not need to make an appearance on Oprah's "TV Show".

Andrea Mitchell has already stated that all the "uneducated women" will be voting for McCain/Palin. Governor Palin would be "preaching to the choir" if she goes on Oprah.

Oprah will get what’s coming to her. For my money I would simply ignore her and her snub, go right on with the campaign and make a quiet, solemn vow that she would never get the time of day from me.

I suspect there’s enough hockey, soccer, baseball, band, mom etc. Moms out there to put the fear of God in the high and might Oprah. I don’t know that they will but they need to for their own good. Sure would like to think what we’re seeing with Sarah! and US magazine is just the start of an American consumer, viewer, reader that’s tired of being taken for granted.

On the other hand, I suspect Sarah! is so much a lady and child of God that she will reach out and offer her hand in friendship to Oprah. Sometimes these Christians really get on my nerves!

Oprah should be helping her mother pay the big debt she owes a suburban Milwaukee store.

If I were the Governor ... when Oprea finally determines the time is right for her to be on - I’d decline. Every time she asked and tell her I’m busy with more important things. Then get on FoxNews or something.

Oprah promotes people based on gender and race.

What we learn now is that Oprah puts race before gender.

Oprah is a racist.

Where is what’s best for the country in her decision?

Nowhere.

It’s what’s best for Oprah and maintaining acceptance in her elite clique.

Andrea Mitchell also should have been blown away in the Monday morning massacre of Chrissy and Keithie. She is a large piece of the NBC/MSNBC utter failure in political reporting and their ratings. Thier entire camp is a bunch of partisan leftie losers.

It tickles me to death that McCain/Palin is keeping Governor Palin away from the “news” Piranhas. They are nothing but a bunch of cheapshot artists. Granting them “interviews” would be a waste of time since they’d only be interested in the baby, Bristol and her “affair.” Although this country has an overabundance of “reporters, journalists and news anchors”, I still don’t want to see anyone get hurt.

Oprah knocked Hillary out of the primaries, that much seems nearly certain. As close as the primary race was, Oprah made the difference. So much for "womyn power" -- skin color trumps sex (er, "gender") for Oprah and most other "womyn of color"....

Fine by me. Governor Palin needs to keep as many degrees of separation as possible from Oprah and her “new”-age whackos.
