Democrat Barack Obama's once double-digit lead in Washington state is no more, according to this latest SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KING-TV Seattle and KATU-TV Portland Oregon. In an election today, 09/08/08, eight weeks till votes are counted, it's Obama 49%, McCain 45%. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll 4 weeks ago (before both candidates had named their running mates), Obama is down 2 points; McCain is up 1. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll 8 weeks ago, Obama is down 6; McCain is up 6. Obama led by 17 points in June, led by 16 points in July, led 8 points in August, leads 4 points today. Among voters with no college education, there is continuing movement to McCain. Obama led by 15 points in July, now trails by 8, a 23-point erosion. Among voters who earn less than $50K a year, there is continuing movement to McCain. Obama's once 26-point lead among the lower-income group is now 5 points, a 21-point erosion. Among voters older than McCain, Obama had led by 24 points in July, now trails by 1, a 25-point erosion. McCain always has run well among Conservatives, but his advantage among Conservatives has grown from 4:1 in May to 11:1 today. In Eastern Washington state, Obama led 5:4 in June, but McCain leads 2:1 today.
Among women, McCain is up 9 points from June, Obama is down 11 points from June. McCain had been gaining ground among female voters before he picked Sarah Palin. That continues. Among men, Obama leads by 4 today, a 5-point shift toward Obama from last month, when McCain led by 1. This is one of the few bright spots in today's poll data for the Democrats.
Here’s to my WA FReeper friends: May Dino have the victory he was cheated out of four years ago. And may it be decisive!
Just another DU wrecker/deflector trying to toss our one current chance at reforming the People’s Soviet of Washington, working to keep it in the Dems’ hands by trashing our guy. Pay the accurately-named twit REVOLTING CAT no mind. It’s got to be a DUmmie.
Very odd change.
It probably even refers to our last great president as “RONNIE RAY-GUN.”
IMHO
You got it, Tino do! And IT refers to a "Clint Williams" as "HUMOURLESS TROLL"
If Dino would simply expose the corruption in the state supreme court, by Gov. Gregoire and AG Rob McKenna, for which he has the proof, he’d win in a cake walk.
Problem is, he is part of the good old boys network which would rather cover up each others corruption than do the right thing for the citizens of the State of Washington.
We need a Sarah Palin type who is willing to confront and fight the corruption. Sadly, Rossi is not that man. Still prefer him to Gregoire, but he will not change th corrupt mindset dominating politics in this state.
Gov. Palin has a fundraiser scheduled for the second half of September in Seattle. This event was set before the VP was named. Hopefully, she can campaign in the state as well.
The Rossi campaign has a larger ground presence in the state than McCain-Palin has, at least to this point. They may wind up driving each other’s numbers up in Washington state.
Going to Philadelphia won't affect Colorado Springs, but showing up in east Washington or the Cascade mountains might help.
WASHINGTON IS IN PLAY!
I heard that McCain/Palin may visit WA on 9/24. Anyone else here that. Rossi could use their help.

Obama’s lead in Wash. state dwindling

A new poll commissioned by KING 5 shows Republican John McCain gaining ground on Democrat Barack Obama in the state of Washington.
The SurveyUSA poll found that in an election today, it’s Obama 49 percent, McCain 45 percent. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll four weeks ago - before both candidates had named their running mates - Obama is down 2 points; McCain is up 1.
And the McCain/Palin surge may be reflected in the race for governor as well.
With eight weeks to go, Survey USA polled likely voters and found Obamas double-digit lead in June has shrunk to only four percentage points.
Among likely female voters, Obama has lost ground and McCain has gained since he picked Sarah Palin last month.
For the sixth time in as many tracking polls, the rematch contest between Rossi and incumbent Democrat Christine Gregoire is inside of the SurveyUSA poll’s margin of sampling error. But for the first time, Rossi is nominally ahead, 48 percent to 47 percent.
Among women, Gregoire had led by 24 points in May, 60 percent to 36 percent. In this new poll, the candidates are tied.
I have a friend who lives in the St. Augustine area and has lately been sending me lots of anti-Obama stuff (I didn’t know she was even politically minded).
I finally asked what sparked her interest and she replied “That man scares me to death!”
She said that the emails, largely ‘the truth about obama’ are spreading like wildfire.
The viral info is working better than the paid-for ads!
This is about our best-case...a landslide...
“Obamer is NOT making his donation targets, so if McCain can spread out his campaigning across the west, and this stresses Obamer so HE has to go back to safe states (Washington and Oregon for example) just to remain ahead, then McCain wins because he stays in the western spotlight.”
Michigan’s demographics are also very precarious for Obama.
It’s pretty amazing Obama has screwed up to the point where he is playing Defense in a year that SHOULD have been a slamdunk for the Democrats, given the public mood and political environment.
McCain needs Colorado or Michigan without losing Florida, Nevada, or Virginia.
Lots of red, I like that.
But Rossi could win, which would be both hugh and series.
