Lots of women have had men like this for a boss and it is unbearable

You know, come to think of it, that's exactly what it reminded me of. It was the familiar condescension that women experience sometimes in the workplace, or even in social circles.

Gibson did a good impression of the Dabney Coleman character in the movie 9 to 5.

Not respectful of sitting Gov. at all. Perhaps gender is not the only issue. Methinks Charlie felt a smidge uncomfortable around a powerful woman young enough to be his daughter.

“Seems like they edited out most of her response”

I logged on to the ABC site and politely asked for the raw feed, rather than this OBVIOUSLY EDITED version.

It was uncomfortably chopped up because they clearly were taking out entire phrases.

Also, after Obama’s nomination speech, Gibson interviewed him and was all touchy feeling: how do you feel, how does your wife feel, how do your kids feel, how does your frickin’ grandmother feel even... have you had a chance to feel the joy of your nomination, did you ever think a black man would be in your position....

so this is the first interview after Palin’s nomination and we get this? This piece of earplug driven goady toad gotcha politics?

I guess we should be glad, it keeps the Right sharp to have to handle it while the left dulls themselves.

I must have been thinking about Gibson.

I'm still angry with myself for not expecting this.

Does he always come across as a nasty, ugly partisan hack???

"Sarah did fine but Gibson is an elitist prick who spent the whole interview looking down his nose and patronizing her."

Exactly. Gibson wearing those glasses on the end of his nose (giving him the whole Carl Levin look down his nose gig) was exactly as you describe: "now, my deeyah...vee have vays of making you talk...vat did choo know and ven did you know it? Eh?"

I just tried the link and there is an issue with the server; error message. Did anyone else have that problem?

Yes, me, too. Too many people trying to get to the same web site at the same time will overload their server. That's a good sign. :)

I watched the broadcast.
She did fine.
Charlie Gibson, on the other hand, blew his chance to have a meaningful interview and to explore who this woman is.
It was nothing but a string of mostly meaningless 'gotcha' questions - all of which Sarah handled quite well.
I would like to see her open tomorrow's interview by calling Gibson on his untruthfulness - the 'mission from God' quote was not exact, as he claimed, it was a chopped segment, and this missing parts change the meaning entirely.

“Methinks Charlie felt a smidge uncomfortable around a powerful woman young enough to be his daughter.”

This uncomfortable issue is a problem for many liberal males. The psychologiy is similar to that when considerigin gun control.

They fear they would be asked to measure up, in this case Palin, or have to step up in the case of self-defense.

Gibson’s comment about “getting caught in a flurry of words”

Actually, I replayed it because I could not believe how rude the statement was. He said "I got lost in a blizzard of words! Is that a yes?".

He asked her to say yes or no to this statement: "But, Governor, I'm asking you: We have the right, in your mind, to go across the border with or without the approval of the Pakistani government."

I don't think any candidate would/could/should answer that with a simple yes or no.

I agree. She way out performed "Chuck". He really was being a prick in the way he acted as though he was doing the interview because he had to. When he started asking her specifics, i.e his thinking that he had a "gotcha" moment in the questions about the Bush Doctrine, I thought that she'd had enough and was going to reach over and throttle the arrogant assh%*@!

She didn't even though I'm certain that she could have. Good on her!

I think the MSM does us a favor. It toughens us up. They never toughen up the Democrats so the Democrats always come up poorly prepared in encounters with Republicans.

She came out looking better than he did, I think though. And the editing made me wonder what they had cut out. I’m not very good at the first time on anything, once that is under my belt, I’m better the second time.

Charlie Gibson: “I’m getting lost in a blizzard of words” referring to Palin. What an absolute jerk.

Wonder if he ever said the same about Obama, or ever would, during an interview.

/rhetorical question

“Gov Palin needs to learn how to obfuscate. She looked nervous and unprepared.”

She did look a little nervous. (Wouldn’t anybody in her position be?) She was not at all unprepared! And she was very genuine and strongly convicted in her views. I was convinced they were her own.

I’m not unhappy with Gibson. He gave her a tough interview, and she got through it great.

I think it’s great that she withstand the challenge.

I am so proud of our next VP.

I checked out my local ABC channel (KATU.com) to see if they ran a poll on the Palin interview. No such luck!

Today’s poll asked if a landlord should have the right to prevent tenants from flying flags? No 90%, Yes 10%.

I have seen posts where people thought Gibson was patronizing etc and so on, but I really think this was a good interview from the few clips I have seen of it.

Palin reacts and answers perfectly. The questions were hardball and were handled deftly by Palin. Gibson put a lot of emphasis on certain questions that were totally ridiculous such as asking her if she believes our troops are in a "Holy war" based on a comment she had made in church. But, these are fair questions to be asked and her response was classic. She pointed out that they were based on a statement by Lincoln, not that we pray that God is on our side, but that we should pray that we are on God's side.

Contrasting this to Obama's "uh uh uh" stuff it looks very good.

I, too, have the "Palin incoming radar" running at full tilt, but she must be able to handle tough interviews filled with incredible questions, and this is a good start.

Questions like this are being posed all over the internet, they are attempts to attack Palin's character, so it is a good deal that she has the opportunity to answer and put to rest these silly notions dredged up by Obama's attack dogs.

That being said, I haven't seen the whole interview yet, and I hope things went as well in the rest of the interview. Regardless, it wasn't important that she score perfect, the campaign has a long road ahead, but if she stands well at all I predict it will be taken well by those wanting to consider her because the tougher the interview the more respect she will get just for showing up and staying cool.

I just watched it and wondered that exact same thing.

Of course we both know the answer to your question.

I won’t say how I feel about Gibson for fear of being banned.
