SARAH ON ABC TONIGHT (VIDEOS)
Ms Underestimated ^ | 9/11/08 | Ms. Underestimated

Tonight, Sarah Palin sat down with Charlie Gibson for an interview, and ABC showed us Charlie’s first two segments. The first portion dealt with her readiness for leadership, and the second dealt with foreign policy. I’ll let you watch and be the judge, but I think Sarah’s ready for her closeup. Others in the blogosphere thought she didn’t do well, but seeing as Charlie had his questions prepared, Sarah did not have her answers prepared, and the fact that I do not believe these questions have ever been asked of an other V.P. candidate, I’m still pleased with her performance. And in that vein, I agree with her; what other V.P., former-governor, candidates have extensive experience in foreign relations? She’s been running a state, for God’s sake!

Charlie Gibson's behavior in the segments I saw on "World News Tonight" was crass and downright condescending and he showed Americans why they don't trust the MSM to be fair in this election.

Why doesn't Charlie Gibson ask Oabam how many states there are? Why doesn't Charlie Gibson asks Obama how he blew a 7 to ten point lead in about two days and mismanaged Palin’s selection as VP. I do believe she is capable of doing better and it is clear that she is doing her home work. On issues she has experiance in she has great form. Many of the questions asked were tough, a lot harder than deciding when a fetus has human rights. If Israel decides to take on Iran we can't stop them can we? Israel will do what it has to to survive, Gibson should know this. Gibson should quite playing I got ya....

I'm not nearly so worried about foreign policy as are a bunch of others. My primary concern is executive experience, and Palin has more of that than the other three candidates in this election combined.

You listen to the obomobots and they keep screaming about obozo being "vetted" by the public during the past year or so and I can't stop thinking that we need to keep our eye on the ball. Oboma may have been asked a bunch of questions during the past year-whether or not you're happy with his answers is a whole nother issue-but even with a year of questions he hasn't got one more day of executive experience.

I'm not sure if Palin would be perfect, probably not, but I'm absolutely certain that Obomber would be a phakin' nightmare.

Gibson is insipid. It was very apparent that Sarah Palin is if far superior intellect than the interviewer. If he is bombarded by words to the point that he couldn’t understand what she was saying, he doesn’t deserve his multi-million dollar a year job.

The first thing I saw about this was this ABC guy half-quoting Gov. Palin and lying when he called her on it. Why would anyone watch any more of this after that? What can anyone expect to learn when the interviewer is a liar?

She's didn't commit a gaffe. I think that based on this encounter, the McCain people aren't going to be make her available for future MSM interviews. If any interviews are granted, they'll be with local media markets.

A man would never be treated like that in an interview.

Never. Lots of women have had men like this for a boss and it is unbearable. Gibson was almost sneering in his disrespect.

Unless you missed the interview, the link doesn’t contain much. Don’t bother.

Is this the form in which this interview is to be aired? Seems like they edited out most of her response and Gibson was interrogating her... I hope this is edited by a left wing blog or something.

The chairs they were sitting in looked like chairs at my dentist’s office. They had Gov. Palin sitting so close to him she had to slouch to not have to play footsie with him.

He was a pompous Ass. She was authentic and real.

"Few governors have any extensive foreign policy knowledge and experience. I don't think a big fat resume makes you more qualified to deal with the real world."

I watched the interview and in my opinion, Charlie Gibson was interrogating Governor Palin as if she were NOT the VP candidate, but as if she were the Presidential candidate.

Are they going to have a sit-down with "Plugs Biden" and ask him the same questions? If so, I already know his answers to all questions asked him: "Look Charlie, I'm not going to do what the failed Bush administration did the last eight years." That one answer has been Biden's every time I've seen him on TV. It works for all questions asked him.

I thought she came off well. I thought Charlie came off terrible. It seemed like he was rifling off questions and not really listening to the answers. I do not remember Charlie Gibson showing such bias before.

The RNC needs to learn how to answer these continual attack talking points of the left.

When Gibson was hammering her about what does energy independence have to do with national security, Palin needed to say:

“CONGRESSES INACTION AND DELIBERATE CLOSING DOWN OF THE U.S. DEVELOPING ITS OWN RESOURCES HAS ALLOWED AMERICA’S ENEMIES TO BLACKMAIL US. AND YES CHARLIE, THAT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH NATIONAL SECURITY!”

And after the badgering regarding crossing over the border in Pakistan to deal with terrorists, Sarah needed to personalize it (that’s the only way a liberal ever gets it):

“Charlie, if someone who attacked you and then promised to kill you, your wife, and children, moved into your neighbors garage, you have some choices. You can go over to your neighbor and ask them to evict the lowlifes in their garage, but if your neighbor refuses, you go over there and deal with it yourself WITH OR WITHOUT YOUR NEIGHBOR’S PERMISSION! Of course, Charlie, there is the option of doing nothing and standing by while the thugs kill the people you love, but that’s not what John McCain and I are all about.”

Gov Palin needs to learn how to obfuscate. She looked nervous and unprepared. All the points about clinton, b.o, and others having 0 foreign policy experience are valid, but they sounded like they did.

This was the gamble. Sarah's sudden stardom has boosted the energy to the point she eclipses McCain. But she has to do more than the standard speech.. That's the challenge. She may have been “vetted” iow, they looked at her background, videos, etc, but she's never been in this crucible before.

Gibson was snotty and condescending, but come on, we knew that all the reporters are like that. It's part of the game
