She’s Not Ready

While watching the Sarah Palin interview with Charlie Gibson Thursday night, and the coverage of the Palin phenomenon in general, I’ve gotten the scary feeling, for the first time in my life, that dimwittedness is not just on the march in the U.S., but that it might actually prevail.
How is it that this woman could have been selected to be the vice presidential candidate on a major party ticket? How is it that so much of the mainstream media has dropped all pretense of seriousness to hop aboard the bandwagon and go along for the giddy ride?
For those who haven’t noticed, we’re electing a president and vice president, not selecting a winner on “American Idol.”
Ms. Palin may be a perfectly competent and reasonably intelligent woman (however troubling her views on evolution and global warming may be), but she is not ready to be vice president.

The assumption of all these attacks is that a govenor is not ready to be predisent because they don’t deal with foriegn countrys.
Look at our last 5 presidents:
1976 - Carter - GA Gov to President
1980 - Reagan - CA Gov to President
1988 - Bush
1992 - Clinton - AR Gov to President
2000 - Bush - TX Gov to President
The American people seem perfectly comfortable promoting govenors to the oval office. Reporters saying Palin doesn’t have the experience because she has only been a govenor are showing a lot of hubris.

Here is something, we can all do this weekend to start eliminating the NY Slimes as a threat to our nation.

Her husband was the landlord for the pornography industry. She has always had a gigantic chip on her shoulder and is a monumental loser.
The truth is that Obama (or whatever is his true name) is about as ready for prime time as Daffy Duck, who was another example of a figment of someone's imagination. In fact, Obama couldn't debate even a cartoon figure like Daffy Duck. Daffy would win.
His 'pick' for vice-president is a narcissistic, apelike-ginning hair transplant.

Mr. Herbert, if you seriously think that Senator "Coke-head" Obama is the best man to represent these United States in international affairs and govern these United States, I would like to know exactly what record you are basing this on.
You media types have spent the last 18 months praising every word out of the mouth of Senator Obama since he doesn't have any executive record for you to also lavish praise on, and you have given these words no critical review.
For goodness sake, Senator Obama recited the Islamic creed to your New York Times in March of 2007, and you passed it by as if it were nothing.
What if Muammar Ghaddafi or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had recited the Apostles Creed? Don't you think that act, which would be a profession of the Christian faith, might have made, say, the front page for a day?
Well, why in the hell didn't you print such a front page story when a U.S. presidential candidate professed his Muslim faith to your very newspaper? Didn't think it was all that important? Or maybe you just don't understand the significance of reciting the shahada?

The second part of your statement sounds just like a democrat - threatening or trying to shame someone into following your lead. Conservatives use reason - like the first part of your post.
I don't mean to pick on you as an individual, but I sometimes fear that conservatives lose sight of the fact that conservatism is reason, not emotion.

Actualy that is not proven here. Many adhere to strict principle and allow no reason at all. There is a refusal to reason with facts and draw a conclusion that a vote for McCain is a better choice than a vote for Hussein.
You must choose your principles without reason.
I am continually surprised by how petulant some people get when their viewpoint is not immediately hailed as negating someone else’s completely. Your post is a case in point.

Arrogant leftists like Herbert have looked upon the American people as dimwits for a very long time. He is just now admitting it...not realizing it. The problem for his ilk is reflected in the richly deserved destruction of the NY Times and other bastions of anti-American thought. The dimwits in flyover country are no longer dependent upon Herbert for “news.” Facts are now available to anyone having an interest. And that spells death for a MSM which depends so completely upon the Cronkite monopoly of days gone by.

Charlie can act like he thinks Sarah isn’t qualified all he wants by trying to act all intimidating during the interview and hostile and throw really hardball questions all he wants. But when he asks such soft-ball questions to Obama, we know who he REALLY thinks is unqualified. Clearly, Charlie is afraid to ask Obama the questions he knows he should ask Obama, because Obama couldn’t handle the questions at all and that would expose Obama for the fraud that he is. Sarah handled the interview very well, it was an extremely hostile, combative style of questioning. I was shocked and she did very well, it was clear she knew what she was up against. Sarah is very qualified.
