Barack Obama under fire for ignoring advice on how to beat John McCain
Telegraph ^ | September 13, 2008 | Tim Shipman

Barack Obama and his senior advisers are under fire for ignoring the advice of Democratic senators and governors who are concerned that they do not know how to beat John McCain.

The Democratic presidential candidate's slump in the polls has sparked pointed private criticism that he is squandering a once-in-a-generation chance to win back the White House.

Party elders also believe the Obama camp is in denial about warnings from Democratic pollsters that his true standing is four to six points lower than that in published polls because of hidden racism from voters - something that would put him a long way behind Mr McCain.

The Sunday Telegraph has learned that senators, governors and union leaders who have experience of winning hard-fought races in swing states have been bombarding Obamas campaign headquarters with telephone calls offering advice. But many of those calls have not been returned.

A senior Democratic strategist, who has played a prominent role in two presidential campaigns, told The Sunday Telegraph: "These guys are on the verge of blowing the greatest gimme in the history of American politics. They're the most arrogant bunch Ive ever seen. They won't accept that they are losing and they won't listen."

After leading throughout the year, Mr Obama now trails Mr McCain by two to three points in national polls.

Party leaders and commentators say that the Democrat candidate spent too much of the summer enjoying his own popularity and not enough defining his positions on the economy - the number one issue for voters - or reaching out to those blue collar workers whose votes he needs if he is to beat Mr McCain.

Others concede that his trip to Europe was a distraction that enhanced his celebrity status rather than his electability on Main Street, USA.

The aide said that her repeated mockery of Mr Obama's boasts about his time as a community organiser in Chicago are "the most effective criticisms of Barack Obama we have yet seen." He said: "Americans in small and medium size towns dont know what the hell a community organiser is. Real Americans graduate from high school or college and get a job that pays a wage. Campus radicals go off and organise a community."

I love the fact he uses the term "Real Americans" which makes barry look like the elitist he is.

Oh, yeah.

He had no right to call Governor Palin a pig. NONE.

And then the little punk decided to attack Senator McCain's inability to type at a computer?

Man, I cannot wait to see Obama LOSE.

He is evil, hatred and arrogance personified.

I posted this yesterday:

Disarray in the Democrat national committee must be getting to the point where morale is so low that the rats are turning on each other and a will not long be able to conceal their desperation from their own drones or from the public.

Scapegoats will have to be found and publicly executed. Intraparty discipline must be at the breaking point. As down ticket candidates begin to understand that, forget coattails, Obama is an anchor in any district where the issue is close, they will begin to distance themselves first passively and physically, then openly with public criticism.

The interest groups like the teachers union, the government Union, the feminists, environmentalists, the gays, virtually all of them except the African-Americans, will demand that " something be done." First lone voices, then a chorus, then an orchestrated cry will become irresistible.

We're approaching the moment of maximum danger when Hillary is added to the ticket.

Its too late. They had to nominate a guy who can't win and they're stuck with him. But they had to listen to the MSM! Schadenfreude! Its HUGH

It's ironic Obama is being told he's blowing it by his own experienced party leaders. They knew they were nominating a rookie who didn't know how to fight a tough battle in the general election.

They put a rookie quarterback into the big game, told him he was a superstar and when the pressure got intense, he began throwing interceptions. It was very predictable.

Maybe he is annoyed because they alway call when he is trying to finish his waffle.

I think the Obama campaign should take every bit of advice it is offered.

That should keep ‘em busy...

NO! Hillary wants nothing to do with the dream-stealer! SHE WANTS HIM BURIED! And she'll be happy when it finally happens.

"Peggy Noonan, the former Reagan speechwriter, blamed the defection of women voters from Mr Obama on the atom bomb of ritual abuse by left-wing bloggers and Democratic officials, painting Mrs Palin as a bad mother and religious weirdo." "Ms Noonan wrote: "The snobbery of it, the meanness of it, reminded the entire country, for the first time in a decade, what it is they don't like about the Left."

I had to laugh when I saw this. From the queen bi*ch herself. Talk about one that acts like an elitist snob and can be down right mean. We remember what you said about Palin and how you have acted with vengeance against GW since he turned you down for a speech writer job you desperately wanted. Peggy you are pathetic, just like Obama is.

I'm just surprised that they finally remembered that Obama is technically running against McCain and not Palin and thus chose to attack the top of the ticket.

Then, of course, they promptly poked themselves in the eye with their stupid attack.

The economy is Obama’s strongest issue??!!! What do quasi-Marxists know about a market economy? Nothing, except how to ruin it.

So we are going to spend the next 8 years hearing about how we are a bunch of racists because we didn't vote for Obamasiah.

There are two ways to look at this. One is the rat way. People are secret racists and lie to pollsters to hurt the black guy. The other is the reality way. People lie to pollsters because they don't want to be thought a racist.

In other words, it's not racism that sinks otherwise valid polls. If the folks being polled were really racist, they would just say "I'm not voting for him." Why lie? To make a black guy have good polling numbers?

In other words, racism isn't snatching away support that Obama has. Racial issues are giving him the apparency of more support than he actually has. I suppose it's possible a white dem would have more actual support, all other things being equal (equal inexperience, equal friendships with terrorists and Rev Wright etc). But I think it's less than the rats think.
