John Batchelor: The Obama-Biden campaign is in meltdown

McCain's Right ArmBy John Batchelor. posted on September 12, 2008 at 10:05 PM

September 1968

After a year of starving and abusing 32 year old John McCain, no medical attention, abandonment and isolation in a windowless cell at the North Vietnamese Potemkin Village of a prison called the Plantation, the sadistic boss of the camp, Major Bai, called "Cat" by the POWs, ordered that the torturers break the admiral's son and force him to sign a confession. It was September, 1968. John McCain's father, John S. McCain, had become admiral of the Pacific Fleet the summer before, and the son's refusal to accept early release, and give the enemy a propoganda item, had angered Hanoi. Now John McCain the son was to pay for his resistance. The torturers started by rebreaking his left arm. Then he was trussed in ropes and beaten every two or three hours. According to the definitive Naval Institute Press volume on the POWS, "Honor Bound: American Prisoners of War in Southeast Asia, 1961-1973," this sadism continued for four days. He resisted and weakened. Finally he signed the confession. Forty years later, this act of courage and then retreat still bothers John McCain, and he mentioned it movingly in his acceptance speech to the Republican Convention on September 4. What also stays with John McCain is the damage to his arms. When he was released in 1973, (left, returning to US care) his right arm was two inches shorter than his left. He cannot lift his arms above his breast. He cannot comb his own hair. And he is not dexterous enough to type at a keyboard.

The Obama-Biden Campaign is in Meltdown

This meltdown explains how it is possible for the Obama-Biden campaign to issue, on the eve of Hurrican Ike that will dominate the news for twenty-four hours, the most cynical and stupid of webads that attacks John McCain for not being in the economy enough to use the internet. The webad is the worst of postures-- it is snide:

"1982, John McCain goes to Washington," an announcer says over chirpy elevator music. "Things have changed in the last 26 years, but McCain hasn't. He admits he still doesn't know how to use a computer...

Meltdown

Perhaps the webad writers were unaware of John McCain's disability (left, at the Plantation before the torture, 1968). Perhaps they skipped the detail that John McCain depends upon Cindy McCain to type his e-mail messages. Perhaps it just does not make sense, to a campaign headed by the fresh-faced forty-something David Plouffe, that there are men walking around who have been tortured and permanently disabled by the enemy. Perhaps, as I have been told by my best Democratic Party source, the Obama-Biden campaign is in meltdown, there is no single message, there is no unity, there is no vision, and so separate but equal parts with lots of cash but not much learning are just wandering off the trail. My professionals, Fund, Ververs, Charen, Avlon, Johnson, West, Crowley, McTague, Levine and Whalen will address the strange disintegration of the Obama-Biden campaign on Sunday 14. The question will be, Was 9-11-08 the day (right, the two candidates at Columbia University on Thursday 11) that the Democratic Party panicked that Obama-Biden was not working for either winning the White House nor for holding the Congress?

Democrats expecting different results from a same ideas for last 40 years. But look how well intentioned they are? They care so much? NOPE.

I’m glad were not watching a real meltdown in action from an surprise terrorist attack.

These guys couldn’t find their own bottoms with a map, flashlight, and gps.

Do you want to put in your 4th string guys? These people would make our Gov’t and Country as useless and inept as them.

No a GOOD leader would have plans. Just shows you where an lifetime of Liberalism will get you demoralized, no confidence in yourself or country, and can only asign blame.

Dependent on being told what to do and flushing tax dollars down the toilet. If you didn’t have a willing media and ability to give away our money no one would ever elect you.

I’m thinking Dukakis. Man, that campaign couldn’t tie its own shoes. The only thing different is that McCain doesnt have anyone near as brilliant as Lee Atwater.

And with the spread of early voting and absentee voting in so many states, many millions of votes will have been cast two or three weeks before election day, which makes it harder for dirty campaigns to do an “October surprise” and influence the outcome.

Sorry to disagree but the absentee ballot is the favorite of vote fraud artists everywhere. The Vote-by-Mail setup is ideal for activists who control large urban counties to do late ballot stuffing. And, they do!

After five years as a prisoner of war, John McCain returned home with physical injuries that would have a lasting impact. His broken arms make it painful to lift his hands above his shoulders or to use a keyboard.

Barack Obama thinks that’s funny. The guy can’t use a computer. He and his wife read e-mails together and she will key in his responses.

Barack Obama... Quick to mock...not ready to lead.

I quite agree. a most responsive reply. Would love this see this set forth in an ad

Oh this is too funny. Can’t wait for Obama to explain how his campaign has gotten some new advisors started on their do more of the same plan.
With every advantage and lies about how horrible the economy is and mortgage crisis they can’t WIN for being losers. Only being able to asign blame to BUSH for 7 years with every smear in the book.
Like a bunch of whiny horrible brats that can’t believe life is so unfiar to THEM!

If I get close enough to Reynolds Wrap, I come up with an alternative theory on why Obama didn’t pick Hillary.

He couldn’t stand the thought of a woman in power, as it does go completely against Islamic teachings.

I come up with an alternative theory on why Obama didn’t pick Hillary.

I think he truly believed the “hype” that he is the messiah, THE One and that he could win this without Hillary and Bill. He has Oprah and MSM along with almost every black and truly believing he is destined to be President.....

Perhaps if Hussein had gone to visit the recuperating troops in Europe, he might have gained a small appreciation of what our brave troops will endure the rest of their lives protecting his way of life....Oh that’s right, he couldn’t be bothered.:(

Oh I would laugh and try to punch some more holes for it to sink faster. Of, course they wouldn’t listen to me anyways I’m from the South and a white male conservative clinging to his guns and faith. I only have a degree from a little university not an important one like Harvard. I find America to be exceptional with boundless freedome to run my own life and do with it what I choose. So I’m not Elite I can’t possibly tell this man the one we’ve been witing for anything. Small joke: Obama we’ve been waiting and waiting for you..Where are you? Yeah he was emailing (mole me) on a regular basis to update on the Obama campaign.

I wrote back last week to tell him I am voting for McCain Palin and he wrote back an auto letter thanking me for my responses and where to go to some other response site.

Maybe someone finally got a clue and read my email have not gotten any from him or Barack for a few days.

...Oh that’s right, he couldn’t be bothered.:(

Right Obama Hussien had to 'work out' ... had to get that 37 bowling avergage up.

For a campaign that relies so much on celebrity, so much on being an 'untouchable' Obama Hussein certainly squandered (in the least) a photo-op opportunity.

Wasn’t it predicted that when Clinton left office, Rush Limbaugh would run out of material?

Yes indeed many in the wishful thinking crowd did predict that. Which totally overlooked the fact that Rush's huge audience gains occurred during the GHWB Admin.

All of the left serves as his writing staff :)

“This is a question which should be used to ambush Obama.
Get him going with a set-up about Guantanamo, and the “inhuman” practices (har!) there.

Then ask why he is in favor of more rights for the terrorists than for his opponent as President — as proven by the fact that he used McCain's injuries from torture as a sign of stodginess, not heroism..

Then ask him about Ayers.”

Absolutely brilliant, I like the way you think.

Or maybe Plouffe will ask 0bama to step down.

I was glad that he beat the Beast though, plus I knew he would be easier to beat in the general.
